has been one of the setters for
Milwaukee Sting
16 Black who has strung together some big performances this season. They qualified for nationals after a third place finish in the USA Division at the Northeast Qualifier in Boston. They have now upgraded their bid to a National division bid where this team made it to the gold bracket of 15 National in 2025. Hughes is real quick with her feet where she is able to get to the ball with her hands. She is also impressive defensively where she can make a clean first contact for her libero to put the ball nice and high for the pins. This will be a dangerous team in the 16 Open division at the Prep Dig Gauntlet – they know how to win.

The 2028 setter prospect out of Arrowhead High School will be one to watch for MKE Sting 16 Black as they take on the 16 USA Division in Minneapolis. The quickness from Hughes is what can change the game on her side of the net. She has great footwork and fast hands that allows her team to get rolling. She’s not afraid to push the tempo and get all of her attackers involved.

Brooklyn makes setting look smooth and natural like it’s second nature to her. She leads the team with confidence and keeps everyone dialed in. Beyond her setting, her defense really caught my eye. She is quick and relentless, throwing off the other team whenever she’s on the court. I think she’ll be a great asset for Arrowhead this fall.

Brooklyn was non-stop effort and grit as both a setter and right side. She first caught my eye with her stellar defense, court awareness, and all-around play during warm ups. Brooklyn fought for every point, from warm ups through scrimmage play. She was a consistent force as a setter, feeding hitters and picking up a lot of balls in defense. I felt like everytime I was on Brooklyn’s court, I saw new aspects of her game that made her even more dynamic as a player and teammate. She has a massive amount of potential and is a player that makes a huge difference everytime she is on the court.

Brooklyn runs the court like a well-oiled machine. She is smart, savvy, and insanely precise. Brooklyn puts a fast tempo on her sets and feeds her hitters dime sets more often than not. Brooklyn has a high volleyball IQ and has impressed me with her form and decision-making on the court. She knows how to set the game’s pace: when to make simple plays and when to push the tempo a bit.

Brooklyn is a setter who stepped up in huge moments for her team at MEQ. She has so much speed as she runs down balls, yet still manages to have great control of her sets. In one match I watched, Brooklyn got an ace on match point, a nod to her mental toughness and confidence in big moments. She is a leader on the court and had an outstanding weekend, helping her team finish in the gold bracket.

Brooklyn wowed me with how smart her decisions were. She utilized every hitter and moved the ball around quickly and efficiently. No matter where she was on the court, she could put up a hittable ball for her team.
