Games of the Week: Week 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Each week we are going to take a look at 3 matchups throughout the upcoming week that are a MUST see. We will also have a Tournament of the Week to go with it. Let's take a look at week 1. Season is officially here and all games going forward begin to pave each team's own destiny.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>8/11 Victory Christian AT Claremore</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>How much better can you start on opening day than with a top 5 matchup? Two Tulsa area titans going toe to toe right out of the gate. Victory and Claremore have combined for over 100 wins in just the last two years. Both were also in attendance this past weeks scrimmage. Both saw plenty of tough matches that pushed them to get better. Both crews saw multiple players transfer in to be a part of their programs and both had plenty of talent already in house. The match up in the trenches will be interesting to see unfold. [player_tooltip player_id='743044' first='Heidi' last='Torgerson'], [player_tooltip player_id='297123' first='Ana' last='Appel'] and [player_tooltip player_id='740630' first='Evelyn' last='Goodwin'] will be a handful up front for VC. They also likely have the best back row in the whole state with both [player_tooltip player_id='800177' first='Naomi' last='Ross'] and [player_tooltip player_id='301378' first='Lanee' last='Heflin']. The Claremore Zebras however will have [player_tooltip player_id='666302' first='Addison' last='Doyle'], [player_tooltip player_id='734803' first='Bella' last='Hoisington'], [player_tooltip player_id='740699' first='Faith' last='Caffey'] and [player_tooltip player_id='285769' first='Grace' last='Baughman'] all rotating through up front for them. They will also have the home court advantage.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>8/12 Moore AT Norman</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is a very interesting matchup. Both teams had a solid showing at the Claremore Super Scrimmage. Norman however did go 10-0 over the two days. Moore comfortably won last season at home but with the recent graduating class for Moore and the upcoming talent at Norman, there could be a changing of the guard in week 1. I promise you Moore will be ready to fight back that notion and remain as one of the best 6A programs in the state with Coach Simmons at the Helm. [player_tooltip player_id='297110' first='Zoe' last='Young'], [player_tooltip player_id='752553' first='Izabella' last='Holasek'], [player_tooltip player_id='297088' first='Valyn' last='Donahoo'] and [player_tooltip player_id='748675' first='Olivia' last='Carter'] are just some of the Tigers top players. This front row is tall, athletic and hungry this season!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>8/14 Broken Arrow AT Bishop McGuinness</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both teams performed well at the Super Scrimmage. Bishop McGuinness going a perfect 10-0 like Norman. They were the Irish's first match to kick start the scrimmage where they narrowly got to 25 first. [player_tooltip player_id='610402' first='Aliyah' last='Owens'] and Lily Boswell slinging the rock makes for a long day as an opposing blocker. [player_tooltip player_id='748672' first='Arielle' last='Yapi'] being moved to the outside position may have something to say about Owens attacking. [player_tooltip player_id='394610' first='Emmerson' last='Meador'], [player_tooltip player_id='828387' first='Devine' last='Okon'] and Maddison Hammer vs [player_tooltip player_id='760406' first='Maggie' last='LoPorto'], [player_tooltip player_id='284929' first='Charlotte' last='Nelson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='210539' first='Emma' last='Gardner'] should be quite the firework show to see. [player_tooltip player_id='283004' first='Merritt' last='Fuller'] is a great young setter that seemed very poised this past week. The hinge point for both crews will be their passing game, D1 commit, [player_tooltip player_id='754412' first='Kenzie' last='Smith'] and [player_tooltip player_id='752471' first='Abby' last='Buckelew'] are pretty salty passers. [player_tooltip player_id='756452' first='Hailey' last='Robl'] and [player_tooltip player_id='740633' first='Olivia' last='Shanahan'] are just as good. Shanahan will likely not be cleared to play yet though.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
