Get to Know IL Freshman Showcase’s Top Performers

When she hit the ball, you knew it because you heard it. Great lift when she heads into her swing and she lets loose with full contact on the ball. She seems to be very versatile, can probably stick her anywhere on the court and she will produce. Saw her at OH and she has a nice vertical, good athlete, and looks taller than listed. She can give you good swings hitting down on the ball, and plays great D at the net getting touches and blocks. She is a force at the net, gets up quickly for hits which takes opponents off guard. I was impressed. A freshman with good size, can set, can hit, can pass, looks like a seasoned veteran. Setting is what caught me 1st, she can make all the sets and spread the dimes to any of the hitters! Then I saw she was left handed and getting kills as a hitter, and saw her pass on serve receive with a feathery touch. Some people just look and move like a volleyball player and she is one. At the showcase she displayed her all around skills with consistent plays at the net, passing on serve receive, you name. She always seemed to be in the right place whether covering a tipped ball, or providing a strong unwavering platform from a down driven ball. She looked strong with a good base. Type of player you want on defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As mentioned before, there was a ton of talent at the IL freshman showcase. This isn't something I just noticed, but all the coaches in attendance said the exact same thing. One coach mentioned that a lot of clubs seem to know what they are doing because of the talent was definitely on display throughout. These girls caught my eye, but there sure was a lot of volleyball players who will make a lot of noise in their freshman season this year!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
