This morning, Prep Dig Kansas published a rankings update for the Class of 2027.

The new rankings include 250 total athletes and 33 athletes making their rankings debut.

As always, I like to remind our readers that being in the rankings is more important than where you are in the rankings. There will be plenty of ebbs and dips for players in the rankings.

As you will notice, the top group of players have already verbally committed. As we get later in the recruitment process, stats, offers, and commitments mean more to me as a scout than projections.

Here is a look at five athletes who each made a significant climb up the rankings and are all now ranked in the Top 100.

[player_tooltip player_id='570416' first='Autumn' last='Popp'], 5'10”, S, Maize South, '27

Popp jumped up 60-plus spots in the rankings after announcing she has verbally committed to Wichita State University. The Maverick setter is now ranked No. 6 overall after previously being ranked No. 73. She is a setter who can impact the game multiple ways due to her athleticism and jumping skills. Her sophomore stat sheet included 884 assists, 82 kills, and 30 blocks. The Mavericks play in one of the toughest Sub-States each year, but are a legit contender to qualify for the state tournament every year.

[player_tooltip player_id='828131' first='Addison' last='Davee'], 6'4”, MB, Maize South, '27

Davee parlayed a busy summer schedule into a jump into the No. 25 slot in the rankings. She was previously ranked No. 133. I saw her compete at the Elite Camps at Washburn and Pittsburg State Universities this summer. She is a multi-sport prospect, who I thought was leaning more towards basketball as her college sport of choice, resulting in the previous lower ranking. However, her dedication to volleyball and commitment to the recruitment process were noticeable this offseason. She recorded 101 kills and 60 blocks last season for the Mavericks.

[player_tooltip player_id='835664' first='Mallory' last='Tanking'], 5'10”, OH/MB, Hayden, '27

Tanking moved 60 spots in the rankings from No. 100 to No. 40. She is the most improved player I have seen this summer. Her game this summer compared to last fall is night and day different. The key to Tanking is how much her confidence has increased and the benefits she has gotten from playing with and against elite club talent. She is quicker and more physical than she was last fall. Her sophomore totals of 87 kills and 20 blocks won't impress anyone, but those came on a team that finished third at state and included four other players with 100-plus kills in the rotation. I look for her to at least triple her kill and block totals as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='828207' first='Drew' last='Bruna'], 5'11”, MB, Hanover, '27

Bruna benefited from getting eyes on her this summer at the Washburn Elite Camp. She moved into the No. 49 position after being ranked No. 63 overall. I watched her for the first time at the college camp, and her game became more than just numbers on paper. She finishes off her swing and is an athlete that teams can not afford to overpass against. She has posted back-to-back seasons of 300-plus kills in her first two prep seasons. She is also a blocking force, recording 78 blocks as a sophomore for the Wildcats.

[player_tooltip player_id='809955' first='Dasno' last='Mills'], 6'0”, MB/OH, Royal Valley, '27

Mills made a leap into the Top 100 and is now ranked No. 90 overall. She was previously ranked No. 190. She is a six-rotation weapon for the Panthers. As a sophomore, she registered 181 kills, 46 blocks, and 280 digs. She plays with and practices against one of the state's top athletes (Karis Miller), and I expect her and Royal Valley to have successful 2025 seasons.
