Small-Town Stars Loom Large in Nebraska 2026 Rankings

We're about to enjoy the final high school campaign for many of Nebraska's top rural performers.   Our <a href="https://prepdig.com/nebraska/rankings/2026-rankings/">Nebraska 2026 rankings update</a> can be seen as a brief primer for the upcoming fall season. This class is loaded with rising seniors who are poised to make a lasting impression on the state's prep scene. We've already covered a handful of commits and stock risers, but we're also eager to get some small-town representation.   Here's a medley of familiar stars and new rankings additions who are ready to become more than just "hidden" gems.    We're anxious to see this extraordinary athlete back on the court. Dolliver recuperated from a knee injury suffered midway through 2024, but we expect a big resurgence out of Malcolm's multi-sport star. This game-changing outside hitter is committed to play basketball at Nebraska-Omaha next year--a testament to Dolliver's extraordinary all-around impact. On the volleyball court, Dolliver has racked up over 1,200 kills in just two years of competition.     We still have fond memories of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's 2023 championship ascent. Arbuthnot played a major role in the team's title as a sophomore, but her production exploded last season as she became the featured attacker. This multi-position standout put down a staggering 6.9 kills per set and pushed the Mustangs through a bevy of close matches. 2025 should offer more of the same.     Here's another athlete whose best prep moments have come on the biggest stages. Haase was the catalyst to Exeter-Milligan-Friend's climb to the Class D1 championship match as the No. 5 seed. Not only did she pace the offense with five kills per set on a 0.329 clip, but Haase also delivered the six-rotation impact needed to keep the Bobcats in system. Will 2025 give us a repeat run?     Sandhills/Thedford is no stranger to high-volume scorers, and Dahlberg has been the latest leader for the Knights. She can tee off in the middle or on the outside, making Dahlberg a difficult player for opposing blockers to track. Dahlberg's consistent uptick in production has been something to behold, so she could feasibly clear the four kill-per-set mark she put up last year.     We're only two years removed from Guardian Angels Central Catholic earning the No. 1 seed in the Class D1 tournament. That season brought Ridder to our attention as she lit up strong defenses from the middle blocker spot. Ridder terminated near 0.300 last season and dominated the blocking category for the Bluejays. Her senior season will be defined by the team's pursuit of a postseason return.     Hastings St. Cecilia is ready to transition from underdog to frontrunner. VanSkiver piloted the Bluehawk offense en route to a late-season surge and an upset berth in the Class C2 quarterfinals. We've seen VanSkiver's savvy setting materialize with Nebraska Juniors, and that experience applies to the prep side, too.     Let's get the liberos involved. Freeman has been a proving ground for impactful liberos, and Kastanek is included in that conversation. She made a big impression while competing with [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] during the club season, providing the foundation for a senior surge this fall. Kastanek put up nearly 250 digs as a junior and delivered the pinpoint passes needed to help Freeman's explosive offense thrive.
