–

With a full summer under our belts, this has been one heck of a whirlwind for the athletes in Michigan.

Some of the best of the best in the class of 2027 were making some huge announcements. Meanwhile, we still had quite a few big moves from the stars of the 2026 class as well. Just in the first two months of open recruitment, over 15 of the top 25 ranked athletes in the class of 2027 have found their next home!

Commitments flying left and right, it was hard to keep up with who was going where. No need to worry though, because we have you covered. Let's take a look at another addition of Commitment Catch-Up.

[player_tooltip player_id='464378' first='Ava' last='Bush-Nelson'] to Bowling Green State

6'2 MB - Jenison/FaR Out

Despite being a Ohio based college, Bowling Green State has been huge in the Michigan Volleyball business. With a slew of recent grabs from the Mitten state, it looks to be that that trend is nowhere near slowing down soon. While a bulk of its recent additions to the programs have come from the Metro-Detroit/East side of the state, BGSU has set their sights statewide and just got a huge bump from this west side product.

[player_tooltip player_id='464378' first='Ava' last='Bush-Nelson'] is the type of player that I could see making an immediate impact when she walks onto campus in 2027. She's one of the top rated middles in the state for several reasons. Her block is top tier, her attacking range is vastly evolving and she just makes the difference on the court. Bush-Nelson is a player that I could also see shift positions come college time. While a middle through and through, something about her game gives me the vibes that she would make a lethal opposite at the next level. Her fast arm, her high extension and ability to score could be a dandy to push to a pin. Regardless of where she ends up, BGSU has leveled up with her on roster.

[player_tooltip player_id='442971' first='Brenna' last='Mirovsky'] to Oakland

5'8 DS/L - Oxford/Michigan Elite

Speaking of programs leveling up, [player_tooltip player_id='442971' first='Brenna' last='Mirovsky'] is quite frankly a steal for the Oakland Grizzlies. In only her first club season playing the libero position, Mirovsky quickly made an impression amongst many who come upon her play. A setter to begin, Mirovsky shown to take that developed IQ and translated that very well into her defensive play. Not to mention, her out of system setting is a notch above many of her counterparts.

This marks yet another homegrown grab for Oakland. A school, unlike many in Michigan, is putting an emphasis on in-state recruiting and development. Mirovsky joins a list of recent Michigan commits such as Grace Cooney and Molly Reck who look to make a difference to a program that was once the force of the Horizon League.

[player_tooltip player_id='442976' first='Cynthia' last='Ockerman'] to Clemson

6'3 MB - Brighton/Legacy

When looking at these recent commitments to come out, there is one conference that has had there hands all over these last couple of classes, and it is the ACC. Adding another tally for the growing power volleyball conference, Clemson gets on the board with a huge get in [player_tooltip player_id='442976' first='Cynthia' last='Ockerman']. This adds the top rated middle blocker in the Michigan 2027 class to an exciting group of incomers for the Tigers.

Ockerman is huge get for Clemson for many different reasons. For starters, her size adds a lot of height at the net for the Tigers. At 6'3, Ockerman has quickly become one of the strongest blockers in her class. Alongside just pure physicality, Ockerman is a known winner. She is coming off of two consecutive club seasons where her and her team won the Open title at AAU Nationals. For Clemson, a team that finished second to last in the ACC a season ago, but coming into conference play with a 12-0 record in 2025, this is a great push of the program's momentum.

[player_tooltip player_id='489939' first='Vivian' last='Jones'] to Bowling Green State

6'2 OH - Brighton/L2

Here's another one for the MAC... And another one for Bowling Green. This one will come a year sooner than Bush-Nelson, but nonetheless, adds quite the strength in depth to their roster. Especially with the way this one is coming along, [player_tooltip player_id='489939' first='Vivian' last='Jones'] could be quite the pick up.

This player has real potential to be one of the dark horses in this 2026 class. With a prep career riddled with injury, but yet a lot of growth as a late-bloomer, Jones has come onto the scene in a BIG WAY these last few months. And it doesn't seem to be that she is going to slow down either. Finding great success on the left pin, Jones has developed an arm swing that causes great chaos for opponents. It's fast and comes at you with a lot of pace.

[player_tooltip player_id='462081' first='Jadyn' last='Samson'] to Huntington

5'6 L - Mendon/Dead Frog

I have been very high on this player for quite some time now. [player_tooltip player_id='462081' first='Jadyn' last='Samson'] has been a true star for the Mendon Hornets over the last four seasons. A program that has created some of the top talent that the Division 4 space has seen in the last decade or so, Samson has cemented herself in the conversation as one of the bests.

And she thankfully, she isn't quite done yet. Despite experiencing a club-season ending injury this past winter, Samson has announced that she'll be taking her talents just south of the border to Huntington. The Foresters are currently experiencing one of their best seasons in 2025, riding a 14-4 record coming into the midway point of the season. With the increased talent in the ball control department with Samson, I would expect this winning effect to only continue.
