The 2025 MHSAA season is just over a week old and some players have been putting up impressive numbers through the first whole week of the season.

Here's a look at 10 players that are turning some heads thus far.

[player_tooltip player_id='442999' first='Olivia' last='Berishaj'], Jr. MH Eisenhower

The Eisenhower offense is looking very explosive, but Berishaj is leading that effort. Through 15 sets of play, she is hitting. 518 with 50 kills. She's really locked in and putting the ball away with ease. The junior also isn't slacking defensively, adding in 26 digs.

[player_tooltip player_id='226882' first='Karis' last='Chatfield'], Sr. OH Jenison

Chatfield had big expectations entering the 2025 season, and she is living up to them thus far. She's put away 105 kills in just 18 sets of play for Jenison, hitting .389 in the process. Of the nine matches she's played in, she's had double-digit kills in eight of them. Chatfield also has 36 digs and nine aces.

[player_tooltip player_id='226885' first='Allie' last='Davison'], Sr. S Marian

Davison is off to a great start for Marian, picking up eight wins against solid programs. The offense is hitting nearly .300 collectively behind the play of their veteran setter, who has 163 assists in 16 sets, while adding 34 digs, 16 aces and 15 kills. A total of nine Mustangs have double-digit kills already, as Davison is pushing all the right buttons of the offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='226896' first='Madison' last='Geer'], Sr. OH Frankenmuth

No surprise to see Geer on this list, as she's been a determined competitor throughout her high school career. She's on a roll to start 2025, putting down 23 kills in a recent match with Milford. This was coming off a 27-kill performance over two matches with Grand Ledge earlier in the season.

Anna Lock, Fr. OH WL Northern

It's good to highlight a freshman that is playing well. Lock is looking impressive in her first year with Walled Lake Northern. She has put away 56 kills through 16 sets. That includes 13 in a solid win over Fenton, and 14 in a three-set sweep of West Bloomfield. It's a promising start for Lock, who is likely to keep getting plenty of opportunities.

Nevaeh Loomis, Sr. DS/L Kingston

Loomis has been very busy in the back row for Kingston. She's managed to drum up through 118 digs over just six matches of play. She's had at least 19 in five of the six matches and averaging 9.8 per set thus far in 2025. It's an impressive rate for the senior libero.

Riley Messenger, Sr. S Portage Northern

Messenger is a recent commit to Western Michigan University and a real under the radar player that is doing a nice job of running the Portage Northern offense. On top of her setting ability, she's still been an active with making an aggressive play at the net herself, putting up over 20 kills. She's also been a defensive asset with her blocking and digging ability.

Emmy Poll, So. DS/L Hudsonville

After graduating a dig machine, Hudsonville had big shoes to fill in the back row, but Poll has stepped up in a big way. Through 14 sets, she's tallied 78 digs for Hudsonville. That includes double-digit digs in five of the six matches the Eagles have had. The competition has not been light either, as she's up against some of the best hitters in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='810002' first='Kate' last='Vanappledorn'], Sr. MH Holland Christian

The senior has been helping Holland Christian to a steady set of wins while earning some respect in the Division 2 state rankings. She's got 44 kills through six matches, including 14 kills in a win over Grand Rapids West Catholic and 11 kills in a win over West Ottawa. The 6'1” VanAppledorn is going to be a handful in the middle for opposing teams.

[player_tooltip player_id='462086' first='Mallory' last='Woiteshek'], Jr. OH Grand Haven

A new member to the 1,000-career kills club, Woiteshek has already been out to a great start in the 2025 season. Grand Haven has been up against tough competition through the first week and half, but Woiteshek is a picture of consistency with double-digit kills in seven best-of-three-sets matches already. That included a 16-kill performance in a solid win over Grand Rapids Christian last week.
