The Creek Rose on Senior Night - Johns Creek vs Seckinger

On their Senior Night, Tuesday 9/27/2025, Johns Creek honored three standout leaders, setter Mary Henley Sims, setter Adonia Haile, and hitter [player_tooltip player_id='845013' first='Abby' last='Baker'], and the Gladiators delivered a complete team performance to claim a straight-set win over Seckinger, 25–14, 25–19, 25–20.   From the start, Johns Creek set the tone with clean execution and balance across all rotations.    Senior Setter Mary Henly Sims (#8) was valuable in defense with several digs and a couple of aces. Having 2 capable setters on the court was very useful as Mary delivered some nice passes in key moments. She played aggressively on her senior night.     Senior setter Adonia Haile (#4) ran the offense with poise, constantly mixing up sets to keep Seckinger off balance. Her calm but energetic presence extended beyond distribution, as she delivered well-timed service aces and even pulled out a clutch setter dump to halt Seckinger's momentum and win the match.     Senior [player_tooltip player_id='845013' first='Abby' last='Baker'] (#3), despite normally an OH, playing in the middle, anchored the net with disciplined blocking. She read Seckinger's offense well, stuffing line shots and using smart tips and capitalizing on over passes to keep points alive.     Had an impressive night as she vacuumed up career level digs with ease and picked the scab with several aces (the most for the night). Looking forward to her trajectory in this program.     Junior right side/middle [player_tooltip player_id='827756' first='Sara' last='Buoni'] (#11) showcased why she's one of the Gladiators' most dangerous hitters. She used patience and vision at the net, tooling blocks, tipping smartly, and working around Seckinger's size. Her ability to vary her attack gave Johns Creek multiple scoring options in both transition and structured plays.     [player_tooltip player_id='808133' first='Hana' last='Catic'] (#1) added impressive firepower from both the front and back row, showing range on her kills and defensive hustle with on-the-run digs. She plays DS for club but sure knows how to pound the ball with smart and precision spikes and forward motion on the ball.     [player_tooltip player_id='805056' first='Caroline' last='Giles'] (#22) chipped in critical points with patient attacking and multiple service aces. Her serving was clutch in the 3rd set to allow her team time to recover from the long rallies and seal the deal. She showcased an array of all around skills which will bode for the future Gladiator Varsity program.    Defensively, the Gladiators showed cohesion across the floor, with well-timed blocks that slowed Seckinger's strongest swings. Their ability to cover tips and scrambles proved decisive, especially in the long rallies of Set 2.   Seckinger, ranked just behind Johns Creek in the Region 7-AAAAA standings, showed plenty of fight.    Senior outside Mar'ley Phillips (#8) was the clear offensive engine, using both power and precision to attack the baselines and corners. Her all-around play, from back-row digs to tough serving, kept the Jaguars competitive throughout. She was in good rhythm and caused undeniable trouble. Despite effective blocking from John's Creek during other plays, she was a force that was super consistent the entire match.     Sophomore outside Melina Oliveira (#20) had good sparks of momentum. In set 2 she created some distance at the start of the set with four service aces. She was also effective as a back up setter with some impressive back sets to RS. During her attack play she had some smart shot selections that scored.     [player_tooltip player_id='811118' first='Asenath' last='Teah'] (#11) imposed her size with roof blocks that went straight down. She is hard to play head-to-head and kept up that dominance. John's Creek kept Seckinger out of system quite a bit but when she did get a swing the floor was bruised.     Morgan is another strong contributor  Solid contact each time on the ball and strong swings to help the team score.     Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='822716' first='Bella' last='Williams'] (#7) added solid swings and timely serves. She is a steady eddy with her play and helped at the net with block touches effectively allowing defensive play on the ball.    The second set produced the most fireworks with long rallies, lead changes, and surges on both sides. Seckinger's aggressive serving pushed Johns Creek at times, but the Gladiators' steadiness and fewer errors secured a 25–19 win. In the third set, Johns Creek jumped ahead early, but Seckinger stormed back to cut the deficit to one point. A pivotal block by Baker swung momentum back, and Haile's last point setter dump sealed the victory in the 3rd with the score reading 25-20.   In the end, Johns Creek's seniors got the celebratory victory, and the Gladiators' depth and cohesion proved the difference. With the win, Johns Creek solidified its #2 standing in the region, while Seckinger Jaguars showed they're a dangerous #3 with weapons that can test any opponent.
