Meet the Nominees
Skyye has been a standout leader on and off the court this season, mentoring underclassmen with encouragement, guidance, and a strong example of work ethic. As one of three athletes chosen for the RedHawk leadership committee by first-year head coach Kennedy Paulina, she continues to elevate those around her while anchoring a young Athens team as a six-rotation outside hitter. This past week, she led the RedHawks to two 3–1 road wins with impressive performances—15 kills, 5 digs, and 2 blocks (.250) vs. Lutheran North on Sept. 22, and 18 kills, 4 digs, and 2 blocks (.308) vs. Plymouth on Sept. 25. She also became the first player in Athens history to surpass 1,000 career kills, a testament to her consistency and ability to perform in high-pressure moments.
Paisley Potwora was named Tournament MVP after a dominant performance at the two-day Owasso Tournament, where she racked up 50 kills and 16 blocks. Her unstoppable presence at the net helped lead Bixby Varsity to a first-place finish, capped off by a thrilling five-set victory over Broken Arrow in the championship match.
Highlights
Ava continues to prove that consistency and drive set her apart. At just 5'9” with an impressive 9'6” vertical, she currently leads Class 5A in kills. A three-year varsity starter, Ava has been a key contributor to her team's success and leadership. This week marked a major milestone as she recorded her 500th career kill, solidifying her place as one of the top offensive players in the state. As a team captain, she leads with poise and determination both on and off the court. Just last night, Ava was inducted into the National Honor Society, further highlighting her excellence in the classroom as well as in competition.

Ali hit a major milestone this week, recording her 1,000th career kill - a testament to her relentless work ethic and offensive firepower. A key force behind her team's impressive 13-1 record, Ali continues to dominate at the net, consistently filling the stat sheet and leading by example. Her high-level play has already earned her a commitment to Wright State University, where she'll continue her volleyball journey at the next level.
Highlights
Gisele Morales, a senior setter for Seguin, continues to shine as the engine behind the Matadors' offense. She tallied an impressive 50 assists (12.5 per set) in a crucial four-set win over Burbank, breaking a first-place tie in District 27-5A. Morales followed that performance with 28 assists in a sweep against Highlands, helping Seguin improve to 22-15 overall and 7-0 in district play. Her steady leadership and precise setting have been key to the team's dominant district run.
Ayanna Watson delivered a huge performance on one of the biggest stages, racking up 33 kills to lead her team to a stunning victory over Mater Dei, the #3 ranked high school team in the nation. Her powerful presence at the net and relentless offensive pressure proved unstoppable, helping secure one of the most impressive wins of the season.

Raegan Oursler, a senior outside hitter for Calvert High School (2A), had an incredible week as she continues to lead her team through an undefeated season. On Monday, she posted 15 kills in a big rivalry win over Huntingtown. Later in the week, Raegan delivered a dominant performance with 26 kills and 10 digs in a historic victory over Northern (3A)—Calvert's first win against them since 2018. Her strong play helped the team improve to 5-0. On Saturday, at the Crofton Volleyball Tournament, Raegan was named to the All-Tournament First Team after helping her squad reach the championship match and defeat several top programs along the way. Uncommitted as of now, Raegan is showing she's ready for the next level with her leadership, consistency, and competitive fire.
