Prep Dig national-level scouts recently released an updated 2026 prospects rankings list of athletes from all across the country. A handful of prospects from Ohio are among the 176 athletes named to the list. As not all Ohio prospects named to the list are profiled below, here is a check-in on some of these athletes as they wind down their high school varsity careers and continue to prepare postseason finishes and their transition to the collegiate DI level. As this process can be challenging to get the right athletes in the right places among all the incredible talent coast to coast, big congratulations are in order to all athletes listed.

Northern is the top-ranked prospect in the Ohio class and lands at #14. The future Penn State Nittany Lion has been one of the most impressive prospects across the country in recent cycles as she is athletic, physical, and very dynamic at the net with those tools on both sides of the ball. Overwhelmingly, she leads the [program_tooltip program_id='431851' first='MVC' last=''] offensively this season with 489 total kills for a 6.3 k/s average. She also has a career best 230 digs. Summit Country Day (19-4 overall) won their first postseason match this week and will next face Reading.

Matheny, ranked nationally at #34, recently surpassed 500 total assists for 2025 as Bishop Hartley (14-9 overall) took care of business in the first round of district play to set up their next contest with a good Bexley team. She now has over 1,700 career assists. Her high school and club career has featured her capability to run a dynamic offense and flat out win as her experience driving her [program_tooltip program_id='431555' first='Mintonette' last=''] team the past couple of club cycles led to a slew of top finishes at major tournaments across the country. She is committed to an Indiana program that is playing some great volleyball and is among the top teams in the BigTen currently.

Hoying is another member of that [program_tooltip program_id='431555' first='Mintonette' last=''] team that won a lot and then won some more. The #43 ranked prospect nationally has a big arm and can score with power and range through an aggressive and fearless style of attacking. Recently, Hoying surpassed the 1,200 kills mark for her career as she had one of her best stretches of the season with four matches delivering high volume production. Over 13 sets she earned 65 kills for an average of 5.0 k/s, above her season and career average to date. Bishop Watterson (12-11 overall) will play Jonathan Alder in the next round of district action. Hoying is committed to The Ohio State.

Sharing the setting role for Clay for her first two varsity seasons, Rodriguez was seemingly pressuring the gate to allow her to take full control of the offense for her high school team during that time. This is especially due to her skills, impact, and success in leading what has become one of the most complete and terminal club teams at TVC in her age group. Her final two seasons at Clay have doubled her impact as she has had full control of their offense as their primary distributor that has led to nearly 1,400 assists in those seasons alone. She is now just ahead of 2,100 career assists, a milestone she recently eclipsed in their 3-0 win over Findlay that included 36 total dimes. Clay, the #2 seed in Northwest #1 will take on a solid Ross team for a prospective shot at the state's top DII team that includes some of Rodriguez's club teammates. The national #120 ranked prospect is committed to Youngstown state.

Combs has been featured here quite a bit over her varsity and club experience the past few years, and rightfully so. The NC State commit is one of the most complete prospects in Ohio while also being a "do what my team needs" type of athlete. She helped guide Seton to a DI state title in 2024 while leading the Saints offensively as a six-rotation pin. In 2025, her tools are providing a lot of impact throughout the game as she continues to score while also enforcing their first-touch work with her passing and defense. Seton, the top-ranked DI team in Ohio entering the postseason, is unbeaten (22-0, 8-0) after running through tough schedules both in the non-conference and GGCL. They open up district play next week versus Western Hills. Combs is ranked #164.
