Kendall’s gratitude:
“I first and foremost want to thank God, for all the opportunities and gifts He has blessed me with. I also want to thank my family, specifically my parents and sisters for being with me every step of the way. I also want to thank my communities at the Summit and at Elevation for being so integral to my growth as an athlete and a person.”

Kendall’s voice on growth through the UA All-America experience:
“It’s really pushed me to strive for more in my volleyball career. This is obviously an amazing opportunity, but it has shown me what I can achieve and how I can push myself going forward. Being selected for an opportunity like this isn’t something that I have taken lightly, so I think a big thing is putting in the work before the game to help me prepare and show out on the biggest stage in high school volleyball.”
Kendall’s advice to younger athletes chasing the same path:
“The advice I would give is to never give up on your dreams and don’t be afraid to work hard for them. Getting comfortable being uncomfortable is such a big thing that has been emphasized in every gym I’ve been in. You can’t just make yourself a better middle, DS, etc. You need to work to be a better volleyball player overall. That will take you far.”

Northern is the top-ranked prospect in the Ohio class and lands at #14. The future Penn State Nittany Lion has been one of the most impressive prospects across the country in recent cycles as she is athletic, physical, and very dynamic at the net with those tools on both sides of the ball. Overwhelmingly, she leads the MVC offensively this season with 489 total kills for a 6.3 k/s average. She also has a career best 230 digs. Summit Country Day (19-4 overall) won their first postseason match this week and will next face Reading.

Northern put on a show on Tuesday as Summit Country Day won a key contest in the MVC over CHCA by a 3-2 margin. Taking 75 swings in the match Northern terminated the ball 30 times on a .320 efficiency. The senior, committed to Penn State, also added 22 digs. The MVC will be a battle among the top teams in the Scarlet division as the three-time all-league and previous all-Ohio honoree is skilled and poised to lead the Silver Knights to a conference title.

Although Northern (*pictured) has been highlighted before as the top prospect in our Ohio 2026 rankings, she deserves more attention as the most explosive athlete in the state and among the best nationally. At 6’1, her frame is long and her athleticism is elite. The Penn State commit has a 10’3 touch point that she maximizes well offensively, especially through her fluid movement and momentum build on a lethal slide option behind the setter where she can tag the ball with major impact.

This Penn State recruiting class is stacked. Kendall Northern out of Elevation in Ohio has been putting on some dazzling performances all season. At Central Zone, she was a key piece to their success where she can make something out of nothing in the middle. The ability she has to close the block, get out in transition and score points of a variety of tempos is special. When she has the ability to attack off of one foot, it is essentially a cheat code. Her speed and athleticism will translate well to Penn State where they will be looking to continue their success, building off their 2024 national championship.

Northern was unbelievable in the second set of the 17 Chicas win over the Houston Juniors 17 Elite. She dominated the net with hard swings, a number of timely double blocks then closed it out with hard serves. Elite could not get into a rhythm against her serving on those final points. Northern does a great job using her size to her advantage. Northern’s offensive fakes can not be overlooked either. She draws blockers away from teammates.

The 6’1 Northern (*pictured/center) remains atop the 2026 rankings as she literally can play head and shoulders above most opponents in her class. The offensive leader in the MVC in 2024 as the only attacker to reach over 400 total kills, Northern was a 2nd team all-Ohio selection in DIV. Her athleticism and physicality as an attacker are unmatched in this Ohio class as evidenced by her contact point and ability to score through a variety of options. She is committed to the recent NCAA DI national champion in Penn State and you can see her compete with her Elevation 17 Chicas team starting with the Nike Classic in Columbus mid-January.
