Central Minnesota Setters Controlling the Court

A setter on the volleyball court are equivalent to the quarterback on a football field. By controlling the tempo and placement of the ball, a setter creates opportunities for her hitters to make a play. Creating opportunity to score is what makes a setter standout. By understanding their hitter and opponents defense, setters can catch her opponents off guard.   Below are the setter in the Central MN area that have stood out and made an impact this past season and to continue watching during club season!    Sundby is continuously reading the opponents' defense and the success of past plays to help her move hitter around and strategically place the ball. Her IQ during long rallies usually ends in scoring for her team to increase momentum and excitement. She is discreet when dumping over the net and easily catches the opposing defense off guard. Her agility gets her to the ball quickly to jump set and speed up the offense.     Glieden is a very skilled and knowledgeable player. Her hustle keeps her teammates in system and gives all of her hitters an opportunity to attack the ball. She has soft hands and power when setting pushing the ball to the pins, even when the ball was off the net. Glieden is amazing at working her hitter and pushing them to run multiple routes to keep her opponents on their toes. Her accuracy with ball placement allowed for multiple points to be scored.     Marketon bring the energy and power to the court. As a setter she is always cheering on her defense and offense as they make plays allowing her to be successful as well. She has the ability to get the ball to its destination no matter where she is setting from. Marketon is constantly communication with her hitters and moving them around the court. Her last club season this winter/spring will be one to watch.     Thompson excels at reading the court and guiding her hitters to make successful plays. Her hustle allows her to place the ball where needed. She moved around her hitters and changed up routes when needs to increase the score. Thompson plays with positive energy and a smile on her face.     Mathiasen is quick to get to the net, square her hips, and set the ball with amazing accuracy. She hustles during every play and is great at setting up out of system balls. Her communication with her hitters provides for flawless completion of plays and scores points. As a sophomore, she has many years to enhance and dominate the court.
