We've updated our class of 2027 rankings yesterday, and there's a ton to unpack. First up, we talk about the kids that invested in themselves and saw their stock split. Here are five athletes from five different clubs from around the state that have really turned heads since the last update this past summer.

A couple of years ago, Ali was a long, lean and learning outside hitter for uber-small Oldenburg Academy. After her first year of club at Circle, she learned the pass-to-attack skill that is required of all six-rotation outsides. All of that work, all of that unseen gym time and all of that discipline turned into a commitment from Northern Illinois. Ali's meteoric rise has been one of the feel-good stories of this class, and I'm glad to have been a small part of it.

Springy, light-footed and fast, KaVeaya is one of the most athletic middles to come out of the Fort Wayne area in some time. Her ability to turn any set into points for her squad set her apart from others in this class, and her length on the block can force a change in how a team plays against her squad. I didn't know much about KaVeaya prior to this season, but she absolutely showed OUT for Concordia Lutheran this past fall, and turned her personal showcase into a commitment from Big XII member West Virginia.

If there ever was a kid that you can honestly cheer for no matter whom she played for or against, it's Emily. As an unassuming workhorse, Emily has a knack for doing her job, doing it well, and accepting nothing but the best from herself. One of the main reasons for Franklin Central's first sectional final in a decade, Miss Williams runs the offense at Franklin Central and Academy's top team in her age group with ease, all without bringing attention to herself—-the mark of a true setter perfecting her craft. All of her hard work certainly paid off, as she's earned a commitment from Southern Indiana, who had a resurgence of their own this past season.

As the “other” outside at Southwood this past season, Hali's ability to shoulder some of the offensive load during another highly successful season produced yet another 30-win season. From relative obscurity to full-time, six-rotation outside hitter in a matter of a calendar year, Hali is well on her way to turning heads in the recruiting game.

With length for days and an ability to consistently show readiness to hit, Ella immediately caught our attention. Her wingspan is impressive, and belies her defensive capabilities that require just a little tweaking for the next level. Using that length, she can defend from pin to pin with ease, and is slowly but surely working on her quick arm swing. This past fall was her first season at the varsity level, hence why I didn't know much about her. After watching her play this season, she has all of the tools to be an M2 at the next level, and just needs the opportunity to showcase all of it (with that immense length) at the open level.
