2027 Top Liberos

As we continue our trek through the class of 2027 position by position; we are now at the libero position.   The 2027 class is loaded with backcourt talent, and these 10 liberos are setting the standard. Explosive athletes with elite range, fearless defenders, and rock-solid passers, this group consistently changes matches without ever needing a swing. Good luck to everyone this weekend!    Pulelehua didn't play this school season but that didn't stop her from putting in work elsewhere. As a top level player in AZ and committed to NCAA powerhouse Nebraska, Pulelehua is someone you need to go watch. She has been on the UA invite list, NTDP camp as well, and is a top recruit nationally for the class of 2027.    Let's start with her serve, she has one of the best float serves out there, and if you are on the receiving end of one it is a tough ball to get a 3 pass on. Most teams end up partially out of system every time she serves or she aces them with the movement of her serve. On top of her high level serve you have one of the most fearless liberos out there as she routinely will fill the hole a block leaves and take a lot of hard driven balls that most girls wouldn't go touch. She has the mindset of not letting any ball fall regardless of circumstance and that is my favorite part (RENTLESS is how I would describe her). On top of that she is loud and plays with a lot of energy and passion. WE love seeing that from liberos.    Overall she is a technically sound libero, who can do a lot in serving, defense, and serve receive. She raises the level of her team, and plays with a fire that is needed for all levels. It is easy to see why she is going to a high level D1, and why she is one of the best players in the state.     Aubrey is a top level libero in AZ. This past school year she played at Millenium high school and averaged 3.6 digs a set and passed 446 balls in serve receive with only 18 errors. She is the libero for one of the top club teams in AZ for Sky 17 gold and it is easy to see why based on her high level of play.    One thing about her is that her serve receive is a clear strength, with the ability to pass accurately while on the move. Aubrey also brings high energy to the floor, communicates continuously, and just never stops with the energy and positivity toward her teammates. She projects as a dynamic backcourt presence as she heads to BYU. Honestly this is a steal for them, and she should make an impact immediately there.    Most notably Aubrey is an instinctive, high-end athlete who covers a large portion of the court. She shows explosive first movement and exceptional lateral quickness, allowing her to close gaps quickly and make plays well outside her starting position. She is comfortable defending against pace and angle, using body control and timing to produce controlled digs rather than simple saves. She is going to be a person to watch for conference defensive play of the year next year based on her game play alone, look for her to be one of the top liberos in club this season regardless of class, and a senior to be on the lookout for next year.     Brenna played in 102 sets for the 6A runners up this season and finished with 278 digs and 27 aces as well. She is going to be a big asset for Corona Del Sol next season as they make another run at the finals.    One thing about Brenna is she is super quick on her feet and makes her movements look so effortless as she goes throughout a play. She has what I would call a high-motor, and has exceptional pursuit and closing speed. Brenna covers significant ground in the backcourt and consistently arrives balanced (which is hard to do sometimes), even on balls outside the frame. She gets some great in-system touches on balls that some would deem too difficult. She also has shown advanced reaction timing and athletic ability to defend both power and finesse attackers. She also delivers consistent, target-quality passes and demonstrates composure in high-pressure rotations every time we see her play. Her serve receive consistency allows the offense to stay in rhythm throughout the set and match when she is playing.    Overall Brenna communicates continuously, plays with energy, and brings a steady competitive presence to the backcourt. She is going to challenge for the libero job from day 1 when she arrives at Fresno State and should get playing time immediately after fall camp. She is a high level player and should display that this season.     Kira played at Hamilton high school and was a rock star for the Huskies. She finished the season with 558 digs which was good for #8 in Arizona and #3 in the 6A conference. She had over 700 balls in serve receive this season and only 7% error rate which is exceptional. She was also named 1st team all region and it was easy to see why based on her performance night in and night out.   Kira is an elite-level, explosive libero with exceptional range and quick-twitch athleticism who consistently changes rallies with defensive plays. When you see her play she displays advanced instincts and first-step acceleration, closing space rapidly. Her range is endless as she is defending both pace, off speed, and sharp angles with control. Even balls outside her body she can get great touches on and keep her team in system.   More importantly, serve receive is a clear separator when it comes to Kira and this class, as she shows poise under pressure with the ability to pass accurately while on the move against high-level serves. She does all of this while maintaining body control in extended rallies and handling high-velocity attacks. Kira is a vocal, high-energy competitor who anchors the backcourt and projects as a high-impact collegiate libero capable of contributing early at the next level.     Emma plays on one of the best club teams in AZ on Sky 17 gold and is one of the top athletes on that team. If you watch her play she is very fast and mobile and gets touches on all the balls. This last season at Sunnyslope she had over 320 digs, 427 serve receive touches, 90 assists and chipped in 30 aces. She is someone who can pass, set, and serve if called upon.    Emma reads the game well, consistently puts herself in proper defensive positions, and shows elite anticipation against hard-driven attacks. Her first contact is high level, allowing the offense to stay in system both in defense and especially serve receive. Watching her in serve receive she does a great job taking seam balls, and controlling the back row with excellent passes throughout matches. Her platform and angles are always solid and create minimal mistakes. During matches she maintains quickness deep into matches and extended rallies, showing strong conditioning and competitive durability both in school and club. She never tires and is always ready when called upon.    Emma is a fearless defender and someone any team would want as their libero. She is a vocal leader when she plays the game and someone who is technically sound with some of the best court awareness out there. She has some of the quickest reflexes out there and is a college-ready libero today.     Anela was the libero at Pinnacle this season and racked up over 485 digs which is good for #6 in 6A, along with chipping in 45 aces as well. She also passed 501 balls in serve receive and had an error rate of only 6%. She was also named her region defensive player of the year as well, an honor that was well earned.    Anela is an athletic libero with the range (she is a taller libero) and competitiveness to impact the game at the collegiate level. She moves well laterally, covers a large portion of the court both in defense and serve receive. Her movement allows her to get to balls a lot of girls are unable to get. Anela also shows quick reactions on both hard-driven balls and tips as she is relentless in her pursuit of getting every dig. She brings a confident presence that lifts the defensive unit throughout all her matches. She also always competes at a high level and shows consistent effort regardless of score or situation. Her technique is also great to watch. She seems to make everything look easy with her great form that she has. Her serve-receive platform is consistent, allowing her to handle pace while keeping the offense in rhythm.    Anela is a pleasure to watch, and we can't wait to see how she plays this club season and next year for AZ. She is currently uncommitted but we expect that to change by the end of club season as her talent is very high and we know a school is going to want this top libero to play for them.     The libero for Perry high school this season. Braeley had a great season with over 568 digs that was good for 2nd in the 6A conference. She also did well with over 100 assists as well keeping her team in system even when they were out of system.    Braeley is a libero who is just all over the place and can get to a lot of balls. I enjoy watching a libero who moves her feet fast, and has got lateral movement and you see that with Braeley. She just moves so effortlessly on the floor and is able to get from coverage to defense to base with such ease. Her ability to transition so fast makes her an asset on the team along with her ability to play with a lot of range. It seems she can take 2 spots on the floor and be the ball hog she needs to be as a libero.    She also displays confidence and a soft touch on second contacts. She is very capable of setting from multiple body positions and angles, including while moving or off one foot. She makes smart, low-risk decisions that prioritize ball control and offensive flow when she is the second contact. She is a setter playing in a libero's body or vice versa, I would call her an asset in defense and offense. Overall she is a clear top libero in this class and someone who we are excited to see play at the next level and her senior season at Perry. She is a top libero in 2027, and has the potential to make some jumps in our next ranking update.      Camryn was a backrow mainstay for the Hawks this past season. She was top 10 in 6A for digs with over 399 and also did well with her serving and had 38 aces as well. She was named 1st team all region, demonstrating her as a top level talent not only for her class but for the state.    Camryn is a high-level overall athlete with quick-twitch reactions, strong footwork, and excellent change-of-direction ability. She moves efficiently in and out of defensive posture and maintains speed late into rallies, seems like the longer a rally goes the better she moves. She just never gets tired and always maintains good form and technique during rallies. Most importantly when she hits the floor she recovers quickly from dives or extensions and immediately re-engages in the play, she is never out of the play. In serve receive she is a confident and reliable passer with the athletic ability to handle movement-based serve receive (top or float). She does all this by maintaining a stable platform while passing on the run and she can adjust well to late movement on float and jump serves.    After watching her play I would say she projects as a high-impact collegiate libero or defensive specialist with the athletic tools to contribute early. She has the skill set and competitiveness to compete at that level and colleges should take notice. Most importantly she has the ability to handle increased pace and physicality at the next level.     Isla had a great season and that is both for school and club to this point. For school season she played at Basha where she finished top 15 in 6A in digs with 387. The Bears will look for her to continue being that rock for them next season as she heads into her senior year.    When you watch Isla play you see an explosive, athletic libero with excellent range and court coverage. She shows quick-twitch movement and elite first-step acceleration, which allows her to get a ton of touches on the ball. Isla consistently reads hitters well and reacts with confidence (seems like she knows where the ball is going), making difficult defensive plays look routine. She is comfortable defending high-velocity swings and handling tough serves. Anything that is hard driven seems like she gets a clean touch on the ball and puts her team in system.    Isla also is the definition of a ball hog (every coach loves their libero to be this) and will touch a ball almost every single play. She has a very high court IQ and plays with a lot of passion and shows great leadership as a libero. She is someone who is a high-energy competitor who elevated the tempo of the backcourt. She is a clear college-level libero with the tools to impact early when she makes her decision to play at the next level.     Ella played at Red Mountain this past season and really stepped up and put herself on the map with her school season. She finished 15th in the 6A conference in digs with 486 and finished 3rd in aces with 70 in the conference. She was also named the region's defensive player of the year based on her incredible season.    Ella shows advanced defensive instincts and consistently controls first contact to keep the offense in system. Her serve-receive technique is great, with calm ball handling under pressure, and she communicates effectively to organize both defense and coverage. Most importantly she reads attackers well, and gets her feet to the correct spot early and can handle both off speed and hard driven balls. Her range is off the chart, as one second she is taking a tip and the next she is taking a hard driven ball in the cross. She gets to a lot of balls and does so with ease.    Ella brings a lot of energy, accountability, and constant communication to the backcourt. Shows toughness and emotional control, responding positively after tough points. She competes with confidence and consistently elevates defensive intensity both for her school and club team. It is going to be a great get for a college when she signs. She is a hidden talent that is going to do wonders for a college in a few years.
