The courts at Spooky Nook in Hamilton, Ohio on the first day of the Nike River Rumble saw great moments for every team. The players that maintained an even keel through the ups and downs of games generally led their teams to victory, especially these players.

Moore has a quick arm swing. She consistently formed nice double blocks with her teammates. Moore showed she's very coachable on the sidelines. She said the key to solid blocking is watching the opposing setter and hitters and flow in the direction of the ball.

Davis (pictured) is mainly a middle blocker, but played outside filling in for an injured teammate. She is strong on the go routes. Davis pounds down crosses on one play then goes down from zone four to zone one on the next play. Davis has put a lot of work into getting on top of balls and it shows on the court. Davis said she has put time in the gym building strong shoulders and biceps and working to swing at balls as fast as she can.

Bailey continues to show flashes of great things on the court. Bailey has an improved arm swing. She had her first stint in the back row after mainly playing front row for Letcher County Central to develop her passing. She dug up some well-struck balls there Saturday.

Marcum has a good wrist snap allowing her to be able to pound balls through double blocks. Marcum can spray ones and gap shots to different parts of the court. She had a great one to the left line in one of the games helping the 16 Ashland team to a 3-0 day. Marcum effectively executed tandems with her teammates. Marcum is as solid as ever on her blocking. In a lopsided game, Marcum tried to execute a pipe hitting from the middle back row. Marcum said that surprised her, knowing the team just started working on it and will do more of it. Marcum agreed hitters separate themselves when they can hit from the back row.

Roudebush (pictured) displayed great enthusiasm and energy on the court. Roudebush mainly sets but can come up with big digs and kills when the team needs it showing her versatility. Roudebush had nice rainbow sets to the peeks of the hitters throughout the day. She takes an amazing approach and follow-through. At one point, she leaped into the air and shoved a ball to the right corner. She can also execute sound double blocks. Roudebush also has good first touches. Roudebush has developed into a soundly versatile player. She can use her range to back up on balls.
