Outsides Rising in the 2028 Rankings

The top player in the rankings overall and the #1 OH remains [player_tooltip player_id='628921' first='Bryn' last='Walcott']. Mike Bryant, a Prep Dig Scout covering the Washington Exposure Tour, had this to say after watching the sophomore standout.   "Walcott is the real deal as a pin, and she performed well as expected. As her abilities gain increasing attention, it is key to focus on the fundamental tools in her arsenal. She uses a big runway and clear slow-to-fast footwork to drive herself off the court to a big touch point where she can get ahold of the ball to score over blockers, through space, or to challenge the top off the defense at the net. Her arm is as sound as it gets, with her torque action allowing her to bounce the ball. The current top prospect in this WA 2028 class, it will be fun to see her compete over the next few months with the big lights upon her skill set."     Here are several other notable attackers on our radar in the 2028 Rankings.    The long and athletic outside from Camas and Athena moves up to the #4 overall spot in the updated rankings. Gonzalez has a terrific feel for the game and is solid all-around in six rotations. Her length and whippy arm are separators for her as a prospect; she will be playing a challenging schedule with Athena 16 Gold, including the Triple Crown NIT Battle to Bartle in mid February.     Volkman is a competitor with a heavy arm swing and terrific range as an attacker. The 2028 prospect from Puyallup was racking up kills from both pins for Dakine at the Matt Hartner; she made life difficult on defenders with her hard-angle swings in particular. She works hard as a defender in the middle back and is an accurate passer, helping Dakine stay in system offensively. Volkman is the #3 outside in the updated rankings.     Ioane is off to a great start with PJVBC 16 National. The sophomore from Graham-Kapowsin is a threat from the back row and plays tough defense when she isn't hammering down kills. Ioane is a smart defender who reads attackers and doesn't get caught playing straight behind the block. Her offensive toolbox is diverse; she can disguise a bent-elbow tip when a defense is on its heels, and Ioane can find space down the line or hard andle when her team needs a terminal swing.      Mead is currently the 13th-ranked outside in the state; the Selah sophomore has excellent length and is playing six rotations for No Limits 17 National. The 5'10" prospect is comfortable ripping swings down the line and has a high contact point that helps her work over and around blockers. Mead and her squad will be at the Festival Fiesta Classic in February.     The Glacier Peak player is exactly what you look for in a ball-control outside: Box is gritty and hustles, and she is rock-solid in serve receive and making plays in the middle back. At the net, she has a live arm, is quick to the ball with her feet, and can torch an accurate swing from both pins and the pipe. The 5'8" Box is the 59th-ranked player overall in the updated rankings and will play club with Space Needle this season.     Johnson is a mobile defender in the back row and has a quick rise off the floor when she is attacking. The Curtis sophomore is playing with NPJ Seattle 16 National; along with the excellent talent and coaching at Curtis, she is in an excellent training environment. Johnson checks in as the #96 player in the updated 2028 rankings.     Fallon helped lead Toledo to a state 2B tournament appearance, and the dynamic multi-sport athlete is a small-school player who can make big-time plays.
