15-1

The team is in a good rhythm with Henry Clay sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='943738' first='Kensie' last='Klaychkin'], Lafayette eighth grader Avery Redding and Frederick Douglass sophomore Sophia Olvera at the defensive specialist spots. The team mixes in a promising young setter in Boyle County eighth grader [player_tooltip player_id='943734' first='Alexis' last='McClure'].

McClure sets up a bevy of hitters led by East Jessamine freshman [player_tooltip player_id='880649' first='Eva' last='Howard'] along with West Jessamine freshman six-rotation hitter [player_tooltip player_id='943736' first='Allison' last='Evely'] and another West Jessamine freshman in Campbell Pearman. Henry Clay freshman [player_tooltip player_id='908993' first='Karsyn' last='Johnston'] has shown promise but needs more consistency. McClure can also set up West Jessamine freshman middle blocker Ellie Dinsmore.

The team went 4-1 in the Lexington Open taking fifth in the 15/16s Division. The next event is the [program_tooltip program_id='510734' first='Lexington' last='United'] Volleyball February Freeze 14s to 18s Event at the Sports Center on Mall Road on Feb. 22.

The next event for this team is also the [program_tooltip program_id='510734' first='Lexington' last='United'] Volleyball February Freeze 14s to 18s Event at the Sports Center on Mall Road on Feb. 22.

McClure (pictured) is working with a lot of firepower on the 15-1 team and is doing a good job distributing balls. McClure can do a variety of sets to get the middles and outside hitters involved. McClure will continue to better balls as the season progresses.

Evely has quickly turned into a force at all six positions for 15-1. Evely can take big swings from both the front row and back row. She does a great job getting on top of balls to put a lot of force into them. Evely makes nice first touches and is a strong server.

Klaychkin leads the way for 15-1 in terms of solid first touches. Klaychkin makes sure she lands a number of two to three-point passes so the 15-1 hitters can take big rips. Klaychkin does a good job stopping in her tracks then uses a strong platform to send balls to the setter.

Sturgill served as the setter on the Lexington Catholic freshman team in the fall. She's carrying over good habits for the 15-2 team. Sturgill is finding ways to speed up the tempo running the offense.
