LOUIS - Iowa clubs represented themselves well during this past weekend's Nike President's Day Classic at the Americas Center. Most, if not all, age groups saw teams from the state competing in Gold Bracket play.

That success occurs when talented individuals stand out on well-connected squads. Those athletes can't do it alone, but their teams need them to deliver big plays in important moments.

Let's look back at those performances, position by position. Here's a noteworthy collection of outside hitters:

I caught Impact 15-1 Elite during the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic in St. Louis. Dolbeare immediately caught my attention working through six rotations as an outside hitter. From the pin, Dolbeare attacks with power generated from long arms and elevation to get on top of the ball well above the net, particularly for her age. She gets off of the court quickly, which, with her long arms and height, makes her a factor in defending at the net. Dolbeare is skilled in the back row, too, with sharp actions and a smooth flow. She reads the ball well and is a technically sound passer. Dolbeare impacted matches as an Ankeny Christian freshman last fall, piling up 227 kills (.291) with 76.0 blocks and 112 digs. Buy stock here.

I've been watching Sweers play for years and have always left the court impressed. That was the case again after scouting her with Select 17 Mizuno at the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic. It was actually the first time I'd watched her hit since she injured her leg before the 2024 state tournament. This past prep campaign, she took over setter duties in helping Pleasant Valley get back to Xtreme Arena. I've written about how that move was both selfless and eye-opening. Not many players can just switch like that. The production at several positions makes it surprising a college has yet to scoop up Sweers. The explosiveness and heavy swing present before her injury certainly was there again in St. Louis. She also looked great in the back row and in defending at the net. There's a school on the next level that will be very grateful it gave Sweers a chance.

Competing for a Class 1A school in the North Iowa Cedar League can lead to being overlooked. I think that's been the case with Linder. She's also improving at a nice clip. The North Mahaska junior flashed high upside during the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic in St. Louis. Linder is every bit of 6-1 with long arms and excellent leaping ability. She generates a good amount of power with her explosion and by whipping her right arm through the hitting zone. Linder does well getting on top of the ball and sees the court keenly, allowing her to expose weaknesses in the defense. Her traits and abilities also serve her well in defending at the net. Linder piled up 312 kills (.226) with 213 digs and 27.0 blocks during the 2025 prep season. Her stock is rising.

Suhr is a kid I've liked as a prospect foe awhile. Maybe she plays well when I'm scouting, but my eyes tell me there's a nice blend of current abilities with room to grow into more. That was the case when checking out her United 17-1 Premier outfit at the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic in St. Louis. It was the first time I'd seen her compete in person since the Prep Dig Sizzle at Xtreme Arena back in August. Progress was made as Suhr improved in all areas, but especially in her ability to swing from multiple areas on the court. She can put the ball down at the pin, on the right side or from behind the 10-foot line. Suhr's overall volleyball skills are getting better, including operating in the back row. She recorded 216 kills (.151), 236 digs and 23.0 blocks for Williamsburg in 2025.

I first noticed Nolton when she was a Grinnell sophomore playing at the 2024 Benton Tournament. She stood out as one of the most talented performers in a gym filled with them. Much of that excitement came from her youth and potential. Nolton is realizing it, as evidenced by her play at the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic. She's found a consistency with her gifts, putting the ball away regularly when opportunities present themselves. It's her combining natural abilities, like explosion and power, with improved skills and court sense. She can plow through blocks but also sees where they can be exploited by taking something off of her fastball and playing angles. She's also getting better defending at the net and in handling serve-receive.

Cibula has been on my radar as a underrated player for a couple of years. Whenever I've scouted her in person with Valley or Impact, she's been one of the most consistently strong performers on the floor. It could be said again when watching her at the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic in St. Louis. Cibula is a skilled volleyball player with versatility. Her attack continues to become more consistent and powerful with maturity. Cibula also is smarter in reading blocks and locating soft spots in the defense. An explosive athlete, Cibula defends well at the net, is solid in serve-receive and in walling up in the back row. She helped Valley reach the Class 5A state semifinals in 2025 with 215 kills (.164), 293 digs and 35.0 blocks in 105 sets.
