has always packed a punch when it comes to swinging big on the outside. The 2027 outside hitter will be heading to D2 Missouri Western State in St. Joseph, MO. The Griffins are coming off a 21-8 season which landed them in the D2 national tournament. Sweers played a different role for her Pleasant Valley High School team where she was a standout setter this past fall. However, the outside is where she really thrives. Her performance at Iowa Select has been exciting where she’s not afraid to swing big and mix in some creativity in her shot making.

Sweers was exceptional from the first whistle last weekend, but her Sunday output alone elevated her to MVP ‘ last=”]’ last=”]’ last=”] status. We were already acquainted with Sweers’ takeover potential as a frontcourt hitter. She has thrived on the Prep Dig Circuit before, and I’ve been fortunate enough to cover some of that success. However, Sweers’ six-rotation game was the storyline in Davenport. Her lethal serve pushed 17 Mizuno across the finish line in Sunday’s championship match, and Sweers’ competitive fire shone. This was a complete weekend from a top-tier 2027 prospect.

I’ve been watching Sweers play for years and have always left the court impressed. That was the case again after scouting her with Select 17 Mizuno at the 2026 Nike President’s Day Classic. It was actually the first time I’d watched her hit since she injured her leg before the 2024 state tournament. This past prep campaign, she took over setter duties in helping Pleasant Valley get back to Xtreme Arena. I’ve written about how that move was both selfless and eye-opening. Not many players can just switch like that. The production at several positions makes it surprising a college has yet to scoop up Sweers. The explosiveness and heavy swing present before her injury certainly was there again in St. Louis. She also looked great in the back row and in defending at the net. There’s a school on the next level that will be very grateful it gave Sweers a chance.

played a bit of a different role this fall where she had to step into the setter position for Pleasant Valley, earning All State honors in a skill set I didn’t even know she had. On the pin, she is a lethal attacker who knows how to score points. She can hit a heavy ball hard cross, down the line, or use the block to her advantage. Her Iowa Select group has some powerful players that includes Kansas State commit

I think I’ll write a piece about selfless players in Iowa after this season. Sweers is the inspiration for it. The PV junior switched from an all-state level, six-rotation standout to setter this year to fill a need for the defending Class 5A state champions. The seamless transition speaks volumes about her volleyball talents and winning mentality. Watching Sweers run the Spartan offense at the Oct. 11, 2025 Westside Invite in Cedar Rapids, one would be unable to tell it’s her first year at the position. She piled up 640 assists through the team’s first 82 sets by putting the ball on the money and, more often than not, finding the right attacker to feed. Sweers can do it all at setter because she’s a natural hitter, and defends at the net and in the back row. Whatever college gets this kid will be adding a gamer and winner to its roster.
