Notable Names Delivering During Club Season

This club season is cruising along as we barrel toward the Iowa Regional Qualifier and other big events on the way.   In covering competition during the first few months of the campaign, I've written about a lot of prospects. Many more were on my list, however.   This week, I'm going to play catch up. Here's a group playing at a high level this winter:    Huntrods was a ball of energy working through six rotations for Impact 16-1 Elite at the 2026 Nike President's Classic in St. Louis. Undersized at the pin, she made up for it with an impressive vertical leap and by generating good power with her swing. Huntrods got on top of the ball and played within her abilities on the outside. She did her best work in the back row, a more natural position for her lateral quickness and sharp reflexes. Huntrods is technically sound in digging the ball up and delivering crisp, usable passes. She saw action in 10 varsity matches as a Ballard sophomore in 2025, coming up with 41 digs and seven assists in 26 sets.     Pollack impressed me when I saw her during last year's club campaign. She's an explosive, quick-twitch athlete, which she proved again as a junior at Ankeny Centennial this past fall. In the Jaguars' run to the Class 5A state title match, she produced 178 kills (.176), 245 digs and 37.0 blocks in 102 sets. Pollock shined again when scouting her at the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic in St. Louis. She was competing with Impact 17-1 Elite, playing six rotations and covering a lot of the court. Pollock makes up for not being a six-footer on the outside by jumping out of the gym, putting together a technically-sound swing and generating a good amount of power. She's smart and reads the defense well. Lateral quickness, smooth footwork and keen anticipation are the keys to back-row success.     With a daughter in the 2029 class, I've seen many of its members compete. During club, that includes student-athletes from neighboring states. Carlson is a player I've watched a lot in the last few years. From Six Pack to United to Select, she's as steady and consistent as they come. Carlson showed that as a Rock Island (IL) High freshman during the 2025 pre campaign, when she registered 100 kills, 110 digs, 39 assists and 54 ace serves in 56 sets. Carlson was setting when I saw her competing with Select 15 Mizuno at the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic in St. Louis and, earlier, at the Iowa Invitational. As mentioned, she's consistently good at putting the ball where her attackers prefer it. Carlson is taller with long arms, which helps her own attack and in throwing up the block. She's sound in serve-receive and holds up well defending in the back row. Carlson is athletic and moves smoothly around the court.     I've had the good fortune of scouting Comer compete in person twice this club season. The Davenport West freshman was impacting matches at the Iowa Invitational in January and doing the same thing when watching her at the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic in St. Louis. Comer is every bit of the 5-foot-11 at which she's listed. She plays even taller thanks to long arms and leaping ability. Comer moves well and is agile. There's still rawness to her game, but that will smooth out with more reps. The foundation for success is excellent. She shows a good feel for throwing up the block and can put the ball down when getting a clean swing. Comer is one to watch moving forward. She came up with 59.0 blocks as a Falcon freshman.     I wrote about Tyler after watching her compete with United at the Windy City Classic last April. I saw her again at the LOVB Midwest Recruiting Showcase in June and with her United outfit this club season at the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic. She's been consistently reliable in the back row on all of those occasions. Tyler flashes a good feel for game flow and instincts help lead her to being in proper position to make a play. She's played up in club each of the last two years, so maturity is a part of her game. Tyler is a good athlete that moves well around the court. She picks up the ball well on the attack and in serve-receive. Tyler started 15 of the 36 varsity matches in which she appeared as a Wilton sophomore this past fall, contributing 284 digs in 100 sets.     I scouted Ehrler for the first time in person when she was competing with Adrenaline at the 2026 Nike President's Day Classic in St. Louis. A setter by trade, Ehler was playing up and operating as a defensive specialist. She was doing so very well. Ehrler is a good athlete with quickness and sharp reflexes. She holds up well in serve-receive and delivers consistently good passes. Ehrler proved she could succeed in the back row during her sophomore year at Galena High. She picked up 165 digs in 82 sets as the starting setter. Her well-rounded skill set also helped her contribute 839 assists, 43 kills, 38.0 blocks and 43 ace-serves.
