Pin Hitters

Featuring one of the heaviest arms in Ohio, [player_tooltip player_id='593906' first='Jacleyn' last='Zgonc'] can bury the ball with authority. She is this team's best all-around athlete with great ball control as a primary passer and she can defend at the net well with her athleticism. She is committed to Miami University (Ohio). [player_tooltip player_id='875513' first='Mia' last='Moissis'] complements Zgonc well as another very capable passer as well as a terminal arm. At 5'9, she can balance her effort well with aggressive swings from either pin, while also showcasing her range defensively with ability to stretch and pursue in all directions with good use of her platform. [player_tooltip player_id='559664' first='Sophia' last='Newman'] is another 5'9 attacker with good versatility to her game. She's another aggressive hitter with ability to control her arm and shoulder well to contact with a mix of pace and range. The position is a big strength of this team in that these athletes help control the first touch action with good accuracy that leads to their opportunities to be in system and on tempo through a variety of attack points more times than not.

Middle Hitters

[player_tooltip player_id='828347' first='Rebecca' last='Yockey'] has continued to make tangible gains in her movement and effectiveness as a middle. She's connected to point flow well to finish her block, turn and find the ball, and make herself available with good space and timing. When those things are in order, she can terminate with good intent. At the recent MLK event, she was a quality factor when their ball control and defense was creating opportunity for a full offense to be available. Yockey is especially good at taking care of the ball when in one on one situations. Another middle that should see meaningful opportunities is Audrianna VanHuss. When surrounded by skilled ball control and defense with a deliberate strategy to get middles touches to balance the offense, VanHuss is a middle that has potential to thrive. Her abilities can be effective in applying pressure on opponents on both sides of the ball and with good impact.

Setters

At 6'0, [player_tooltip player_id='592219' first='Makayla' last='Koenig'] is the primary floor leader for this team and continues to show good mechanics and command of her distribution. Her relationship with Zgonc, which stems from their high school experience at Riverside, is tangible in that they showcase a dynamic that that exists when setters and their hitters have experience. Not to mention as well, Koenig is not afraid to call her own number at the second touch as her high hand position and ability to get up over the net create good deception and opportunities. Decisions, the right tempo, and creating variation have been part of their interaction for some time, which led to some great success during the high school season. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='778467' first='Sophia' last='Trzcinski'] is another dynamic athlete and is back on the court after a deliberate stretch of rehab following injury. The Walsh Jesuit product adds depth with her versatility as at 5'4 she brings depth to their ball control and defense, but also has the ability to step in an contribute at the net if needed. Look for her to establish her game with more impact going forward.

DS/Liberos

With true libero in mindset, court awareness and effort, [player_tooltip player_id='488371' first='Sophia' last='Newland'] (*pictured) continues to assert herself as a critical piece for this team. She responds really well to the ball coming off the server or hitter, which starts with her vision and balanced preparation to react with efficiency in her first step while making good adjustments with her body position so her angles can do their job. She had some fantastic moments defensively over MLK weekend as she displayed her quick reaction and range well in her action and with good results. [player_tooltip player_id='782111' first='Natalie' last='Ritchey'] is a great complement to this team behind the block and in supporting hitters. Her ability to absorb big contact and provide big effort to pursue the ball. Further, she can pass with good efficiency as she moves quickly while maintaining her balance and platform control.
