From time to time, we miss seeing players in each recruiting class. It happens. There's not too many of us, and thousands of recruits. That being said, when we DO finally get a chance to see them, we give the best new athletes a little feature. Here are five kids from the class of ‘28 that are new to our rankings but not new to the game.    Karaline is a big thumper from a small school “up north” that has played the great majority of her club ball in the Chicagoland area. More of an M2 at this point in her career, you cannot deny the presence she brings at 6'4”, and the pace with which she attacks when she gets a hold of an in-system set. I'm sure I have her too low on the rankings list simply because of her size. I'm greatly looking forward to how she might perform in the 16 Liberty division in Saint Louis at MEQ in two weekends.     From the south side of Indianapolis, Amelia is part of a family of volleyballers. Currently, THIS Miss Hartman can play either pin at the next level, but sees the majority of sets as a right side attacker. With length and a high contact point, she uses her above-average volleyball IQ to score points for her squad. I haven't seen much all-around game from her in recent viewings, but I'm sure that (1) it's already there, or (2) she's developing it as I type.     Solid, consistent, dependable and skilled, Autumn is the libero for Union's 16 Black squad, and recently had a very productive showing at Triple Crown. In short, she's the kid you should NOT be serving, under any circumstances. On floor defense, she reads and reacts with some of the best in the state, is calm in her platform and has active feet to get to the ball without having to hit the floor first. She's an under-the-radar kid at the moment, but that triple-digit ranking number will be moving to double digits sooner rather than later.     Springy and suprisingly powerful, Kendi is a tough and relentless six-rotation outside that takes no plays off, ever. The heart and soul of her club squad, Miss Kiehl has more than owned her responsibility of being the go-to attacker, and has just as much point scoring ability behind the baseline as well. Active, athletic and always at 100% in effort, Kendi will be a nice addition to a team that needs a fearless attacker on the left.     They say that left-handed attackers are harder to defend because it's so hard to recreate defending one in practice—-especially one like Kennedy. In Miss Miller's case, she can hit every angle, attack high and hard when needed, and sees the court better than most attackers in this class. The sheer variety of shots she can bring to the court is astonishing for her age, and she can score points on all of them. I would not be surprised if she was a beach player, as the variety she has—-in angles, tempo and strength—-helps keep opposing defenses off balance regularly.
