The second of two lefties I’ve personally evaluated on NIVA’s 16 Purple squad, Miss Miller is the harder-hitting lefty with a little more size to boot. She’s hits with borderline recklessness, making her hard to block and even harder to dig. I like the relentlessness with which she hits, as she has a tendency to go on scoring runs with that heavy shoulder of hers. The size is right for the position, and she’d be a sneaky good addition to a school looking for a lefty.

They say that left-handed attackers are harder to defend because it’s so hard to recreate defending one in practice—-especially one like Kennedy. In Miss Miller’s case, she can hit every angle, attack high and hard when needed, and sees the court better than most attackers in this class. The sheer variety of shots she can bring to the court is astonishing for her age, and she can score points on all of them. I would not be surprised if she was a beach player, as the variety she has—-in angles, tempo and strength—-helps keep opposing defenses off balance regularly.

A lefty banger from John Glenn in WAY northern Indiana, Kennedy is more of a hopper and a controlled attacker than what you would expect from someone with as strong of a left arm as she. The way she approaches the ball makes it look like she’s played a ton of outdoor ball, with each and every swing calculated and at 75-90% of her full potential. With all of that energy saved up, it’s easy to see the variety of shots she can hit, all with an endless supply of stamina. I’d like to see a little more leg drive in her approach, which might lead to a higher attack point. Until then, however, her shotmaking ability has got her this far, and should take her further this spring. You can find her on NIVA’s 16 Purple squad.
