Sound the Alarm, Red Rock Rave Day 2 Recap

We got a chance to walk around and see some new players preform well and some top level teams make the gold bracket. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Day 3 is the make it or break it day! A team that already has a bid, and is now in the gold bracket finals of this tournament just shows how good this team is. Emma stands out on this team with how impressive of a offensive force she is, she even at the open level has the most impressive vertical out there and will terminate balls over, through, and around blocks. She is also smart enough to take what the defense gives her and can go off speed when it is open. She also does a fantastic job making life hard for the pins on the other team by being such a physical presence with her block. She doesn't give a lot of room to hit around her and gets so many good touches on the ball even if it isn't a block. She moves with such ease and is able to get her hands on the ball no matter where the pass ends up and always gives the ball to her hitters in a great location. The most impressive part of her game is honestly how well she uses her middle hitters and the amount of different sets she can run with them. To be able to set your middles across the board anywhere with any type of pass just really shows how well of a setter she is, and forces the defense to stay at home and not get to the pin hitters in time which gives them a ton of 1 on 1 opportunities. She also plays a high level of defense and her court IQ shows with how well she reads other teams hitters and can get her feet there and set. She has amazing hands and is able to run a quick and efficient offense with how well she sets the ball. She moves very well on the court and is athletic enough to play both front and back row as a setter. She can run any set that the defense or pass gives her and is playing exceptional right now. She is very well rounded and plays great defense (basically a libero level) and has a great serve/ always puts it where it needs to be. Campbell is an athletic middle who can contribute on both offense and defense for a team. She can run any type of set given to her and terminates at a high clip but where she really stood out to us was her defense. She jumps and has a high reach and is able to get a lot of touches on other teams best hitters. Even in a fast offense she is able to anticipate and read the setter well enough to know where the ball is going and gets a ton of blocks closed during game play. Having a middle who can close a block is super important playing at the open level. Campbell can not only do that but also contribute a lot on the offensive side. She is very versatile on this team and has played DS, OH, RS, RB, and now she is in the libero jersey. To have an asset like this on your team brings a ton of options for you as a coach and Marilyn excels in all areas of the game. As a libero yesterday she was all over the place, anticipating to a level of a well rounded libero and keeping her team in system with her passes on defense. She was very vocal and did a great job in serve receive taking up a lot of space with her flawless footwork.
