Illinois 2028s To Track in Kansas City, Louisville

The Illinois Class of 2028 will be in action this weekend with athletes competing at the JVA World Challenge in Louisville and the Show Me Qualifier in Kansas City.  We are just over two months away from these athletes being able to officially start talking to college coaches on June 15. This will be a busy weekend in regard to recruiting.  Here is a quick look at some Illinois 2028s and where they will be playing.     I remember watching [player_tooltip player_id='543387' first='Evie' last='Mounce'] at the JVA World Challenge last year. I was also able to see her play again at Triple Crown in Kansas City. Her game is elevated, but what has stayed the same are the good vibes she brings on the court. She has grit, passion, and a positive energy that radiates with her smile. She is quick to the ball, always looking to get her hands on it. There is a high motor to her game where she is always anticipating and reading the next play. Her [program_tooltip program_id='430006' first='Illini' last='Elite'] 16 Cardinal team will be ones to watch in 16 Open.     [player_tooltip player_id='962004' first='Brin' last='Armstrong'] fits the prototypical six rotation outside that [program_tooltip program_id='430006' first='Illini' last='Elite'] always manages to train extremely well. She knows how to serve receive, pass, and score in multiple ways. She is a high flyer where she is able to adjust her shots going hard cross, down the line, an offspeed over the block or using the block to her advantage. 16 Cardinal is the two seed in their day one pool and will open play against Metro out of the Hoosier Region.     [player_tooltip player_id='951847' first='Victoria' last='Vicek'] will be one to watch for Sports Performance 16 Elite when they head back to Louisville this weekend for the JVA World Challenge. They were in Louisville for the UA Bluegrass Tournament in March. Vicek is a springy outside hitter who brings a lethal cross court shot to the table, she has a really smooth approach where she can really turn on the ball. She is also one who can be an outlet to score out of the backrow as well for SP 16 Elite.     I remember watching [player_tooltip player_id='808652' first='Erin' last='Skidmore'] at the JVA World Challenge in 2025 as a 15s for Fusion. She has continued to progress as a solid libero who can command the back court. She brings length and athleticism to the libero position where she is reliable in serve receive, can take pace off a hard swing, and put up a nice second ball for her attackers out of system. This Fusion team is really athletic and has some 2028s who would be great to get to camp this upcoming summer.     Another Fusion 16s to know is [player_tooltip player_id='788053' first='Molly' last='Meshenky'] who is one the other team has to be aware of as a middle blocker. She brings athleticism and physicality to the position where she knows how to set the block and remains under control with getting her hands pressed across the net. She has had some highlight worthy swings where she can put a hurt on the ball. Whether she is looking to score with a deep corner shot or spotting a tip, she is someone who should be on the radar in Louisville this weekend.     A high flying outside who can pack a mean punch with her swing. I remember watching Reese and her Blue Steel 16 Black team at MEQ and seeing her swing and it was a “Whoa” type of swing. Electric would be an understatement. [player_tooltip player_id='962006' first='Kinze' last='Reese'] had a monster season for Mascoutah High School being named to the All State team. This Blue Steel team has some hidden gems that need to be hidden no longer. They will compete in 16 Open this weekend at Show Me.     [player_tooltip player_id='962002' first='Harper' last='Whitworth'] was one who really soared on the radar when I saw her at MEQ. The left handed setter was a game changer where she caused so much stress for the other side of the net. Blue Steel is not your typical open team coming from a small market/club, but their game in 2026 has spoken volumes. They have a bid to 16 USA and will be looking to beef up their competition while also getting to play some high level volleyball in front of college coaches.
