Weekend 2 of the USAV Iowa Regionals went down this past weekend at the RecPlex in West Des Moines. The 15U Division featured really good teams and players competing at a high level throughout.

Blommer has a clear case to be ranked the No. 1 player in Iowa's 2029 recruiting class when we see numbers next to names in the not too distant future. For me, it's between her and one of her teammates on United 15-1 Elite. I watched that squad a lot during its run to the USAV Iowa Regional title in late March. Blommer destroyed volleyballs all weekend. In fact, one of the game balls had to be replaced due to loose leather. Not saying that was because of any individual, but I'm not saying it wasn't. Blommer continues increasing her vertical leap and hang time. She easily and regularly gets on top of the ball and powers through it with a very heavy swing. The ability to get so high in the air allows Blommer to read the block and find holes in the defense. She's also improved her blocking during the last year as well as her play in the back row. Blommer is a big reason United had assistant coaches from Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Drake at its court throughout the regional tournament.

Davis impressed me when I watched her compete with Six Pack during the last few club seasons. She then went on to be one of only nine Iowa freshmen to earn all-district laurels this past prep season. Davis led Hudson with 240 kills (.161). She ranked third in digs (218) and fourth in blocks (30.0). I saw her in person for the first time since the last club campaign when she was standing out through six rotations for a team that finished second at the USAV Iowa Regional in late March. Six Pack earned an American Division bid to this summer's USAV Nationals with Davis contributing all around the court. She's a hammer at the pin, getting good lift off of the court and generating power with her swing. Davis has a high volleyball IQ and is technically sound, which helps her find success on the outside and in the back row. Athleticism and lateral quickness lead to digs against the attack and clean passes off of serve-receive. Davis' block is improving as well.

Guinn was nursing a swinging-shoulder injury when I watched her compete at the USAV Iowa Regional during late March in West Des Moines. While it took a little off of her fastball, the Solon freshman still proved very powerful and impactful at the pin. Guinn ends points with velocity and precision. She's also smart and sharp when reading the block, putting the ball down in a number of ways with various speeds on the attack. Blocking is a strength for her, stemming from long arms and leaping ability. Keen timing also helps. Guinn is athletic, moves well laterally and picks up on opponent tendencies. Capable of playing at the opposite pin, versatility adds to Guinn's potential to compete at the next level. She helped Solon reach a regional final as a ninth-grader in the fall with the second most kills (237, .220) on the team and 30.0 blocks.

Limbaugh has made tremendous strides since last club season, when an injury slowed her development for a spell. The process is well back on course if her play at the USAV Iowa Regionals during late March was any indication. The Algona freshman was one of the most impactful pins in the event that saw her Six Pack team place second and earn an American Division bid to this summer's USAV Nationals in Indianapolis. Limbaugh grew taller since I saw her during the last club campaign, and her arms appear to keep getting longer. Agility and athleticism also are on the rise for the daughter of former Nebraska All-American Amber (Holmquist) Limbaugh. Kate's father, Jack Limbaugh Sr., was a Husker offensive lineman. Kate continues increasing the power in her swing and is on a great trajectory in that area. She's also becoming much more consistent on the block, to the point where it regularly impacts matches. The ninth-grader led the Bulldogs with 387 kills (.265) and ranked second in blocks (34.0) this past fall.

Kirkpatrick is another student-athlete that's significantly raised her level of play during the last year. She stood out during in-person scouting opportunities last club season and again during the state tournament in the fall, when helping Grundy Center reach the semifinals. I caught her again during the USAV Iowa Regional in late March after last watching her compete at the M1 Rochester Elite Scrimmages in early January. Again, Kirkpatrick keeps trending up as a six-rotation outside hitter with a lot of projection remaining. She already brings a heavy swing to the pin, and she'll keep adding power with increased strength. Kirkpatrick is a good athlete that can jump, which helps her throw up an effective block, and she moves well laterally, making her a productive player in the back row. She ranked second on the Spartans in kills (241, .248) and digs (261) during the prep campaign.
