The No. 1 prospect in Prep Dig Iowa’s 2029 recruiting class, Blommer is a big problem for opponents at the pin. Scouting her through the years, the Iowa City West sophomore continually improves her overall game and is on the trajectory of being a Power 4 recruit. She’d taken a step forward in her development when watching her compete during the club campaign. That was the case again at an in-person scouting opportunity last week. Her outside game is explosive from bounce to hang time to an anvil swing. Blommer also is becoming more efficient through improved read and reaction. The block and back-row play are trending up, too. Blommer will be very busy fielding messages in June 15.

This sophomore has been an outstanding player to watch so far this season. Blommer has been turning heads with her insane vertical and whip-like swing that helps her bury the ball. She also manages to contribute in more ways than one, putting up big blocks and working hard in the back row. It can be stressful at times to play such a big role only as a sophomore, by Blommer has stepped into that role and flourished.

Cyan Blommer Cyan Blommer 5'11" | OH/DS/L Iowa City West | 2029 State IA is another athlete everyone knows and that everyone loves watching. Her ability to find every inch of the court is mind-blowing. She is another athlete whose IQ and gameplay are on a whole other level compared to other sophomores. Cyan is a player who very quickly makes heads turn with her ball control, flashy plays, and power with every swing. Blommer will definitely be in the running for the top-ranked player in Iowa.

Blommer has a clear case to be ranked the No. 1 player in Iowa’s 2029 recruiting class when we see numbers next to names in the not too distant future. For me, it’s between her and one of her teammates on United 15-1 Elite. I watched that squad a lot during its run to the USAV Iowa Regional title in late March. Blommer destroyed volleyballs all weekend. In fact, one of the game balls had to be replaced due to loose leather. Not saying that was because of any individual, but I’m not saying it wasn’t. Blommer continues increasing her vertical leap and hang time. She easily and regularly gets on top of the ball and powers through it with a very heavy swing. The ability to get so high in the air allows Blommer to read the block and find holes in the defense. She’s also improved her blocking during the last year as well as her play in the back row. Blommer is a big reason United had assistant coaches from Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Drake at its court throughout the regional tournament.
