Here's a closer look at standout pins from the event for whom I'd not yet written evaluations this club season:

Ousley impresses me with her play each and every time I watch her compete. That certainly was the case during the 2026 ASICS Show Me National Qualifier during mid-April in Kansas City. Playing with a scrappy and connected Adrenaline 17 Lindsey squad, the Cedar Rapids Kennedy junior was bringing the bounce and heavy swing from the pin on a regular basis. Ousley packs an impressive vertical leap and possesses hang time that allows for getting on top of the ball. She can power through the block, off of it or around it after assessing the situation in the air. Jumping ability aids in throwing up a strong block, too. Athleticism leads to fluid movements. It, along with agility, enables quick adjustments no matter where the action goes. Ousley is a solid back-row player already and improving in that area. She's a smart volleyballer with good energy and a positive connection with teammates. Ousley missed some time last prep season with injury but finished with 176 kills and 117 digs in 98 sets.

Isaacson is a player that has steadily improved during the last year. She stood out with her performance at the 2025 Northern Lights National Qualifier and took a step forward when watching her again throughout her sophomore season at Ankeny this past fall. Isaacson had made strides again during an in-person scout at the 2026 ASICS Show Me National Qualifier in mid-April in Kansas City. Competing with PowerPlex 16U Nelson, she'd sharpened her skills and added strength. Her swing from the 10-foot line has become noticeably more consistent. Long arms and leaping ability lend themselves to improving that skill even more. Isaacson's swing is adding velocity. Athleticism and agility creates versatility keeping open the door for development at either pin. That's enhanced by strong defense at the net. She produced 203 kills and 29.0 blocks as a 10th-grader on a Class 5A state semifinalist last fall and is a prospect trending up.

I caught a little bit of PowerPlex Brogean in action at the 2026 Windy City National Qualifier the week before but watching a full match at the Mid-April ASICS Show Me National Qualifier. The squad took on Milwaukee Sting in the Open Division, where it finished fifth. Ladwig showed everybody why she'll be heading to Iowa State as a member of its 2027 recruiting class. The powerful right-side hitter was hammering the ball through weak blocks and working her way around tougher ones. After helping Waukee Northwest win its second Class 5A state championship last fall with 278 kills (.422) and 74.0 blocks in 93 sets, Ladwig has raised her level of play again facing top-flight competition throughout this club campaign. She's become more consistent through the years and still has room to go before reaching her considerable ceiling. Cyclone fans should get excited for the future.

I was impressed with Weber when watching her at the beginning of this club season during the M1 Rochester (MN) Elite Scrimmages. She shined again during the USAV Iowa Regional Tournament. The Galena freshman had lifted her game up even more when competing at the 2026 ASICS Show Me National Qualifier in mid-April in Kansas City. Weber is adding explosion and consistency from the pin. Her vertical leap is impressive. An already heavy swing will continue adding zip with more strength. Athleticism, bounce and long arms lead to an effective block. As a freshman in the fall, she piled up 183 kills (.268), 73 digs and 18.0 blocks in 82 sets. Weber is an interesting prospect packed with potential, which has a good chance of being realized while developing in strong prep and club programs.

Smith has developed as a prospect at a consistent rate during the last few years. Most of that development has manifested itself in her being more consistent. The Cedar Falls junior long has brought explosion and power in her attack. Harnessing them into greater efficiency has made her and her teams better. Smith showed that during the prep year, when she registered 180 kills (.204) and 19.0 blocks in 85 sets for one of the state's better programs. It showed up again during the 2026 ASICS Show Me National Qualifier in mid-April in Kansas City. While it's easy to get overshadowed by a Power 4 teammate at the pin, Smith's play provided opponents with little relief. It's one of the reasons the Six Pack 17s won the Liberty Division at the event, securing a bid to this summer's USAV National Tournament in Indianapolis. Smith is capable of helping plenty of college programs if he chooses that path. And there's plenty of upside here that can be developed for even greater results.
