Southern Kentucky Elite Volleyball Academy 17s Teams Overviews

This year the 17s teams have more talent.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Blue</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The team has plenty of experience playing together and it is showing in a 26-18 season after finishing 17th out of 73 teams in the 17 American Blue Division at the Big South Tournament in Atlanta. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The defending 1st Region champion McCracken County Mustangs feature two players on this team in junior defensive specialists [player_tooltip player_id='477251' first='Caroline' last='Presswood'] and [player_tooltip player_id='747076' first='Mollie' last='Canter']. Bowling Green junior setter [player_tooltip player_id='531015' first='Kate' last='Hatcher'] also returns along with Liberty Creek defensive specialist Elizabeth Tomb.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The other setter is Logan County freshman Addison Pitts. She sets two experienced South Warren junior middles [player_tooltip player_id='771806' first='Hannah' last='Lambert'] and [player_tooltip player_id='822468' first='Autumn' last='Gaines']. The other returning player is Muhlenberg County junior outside/defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='771803' first='Kenlee' last='Pate']. Central Hardin junior defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='603785' first='Addison' last='Sego'] is also key on defense. Logan County juniors [player_tooltip player_id='603824' first='Emily' last='McIntosh'] and [player_tooltip player_id='603822' first='Ashley' last='McIntosh'] plays opposite hitters. [player_tooltip player_id='603824' first='Emily' last='McIntosh'] can also play middle blocker.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Caroline Siqueira is the team's head coach. The next event on the schedule is possibly the Governor's Cup on May 9 and 10 in Lexington.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Pink</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team has had its struggles this season, but has seen some bright spots.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Logan County sophomores Lorie Arnold and Piper Daniel plays defensive specialist. Piper also sets. Sophomore Heidi-Anne Wilson plays defensive specialist and outside hitter with South Warren junior [player_tooltip player_id='851363' first='Arayah' last='Fuller'] playing setter and right side hitter. Gallatin junior Sydney Borski plays middle blocker with Greenwood junior Kaylee Davis taking swings on the outside. Todd County Central sophomore Mallory Werner plays in the middle and right side hitter with sophomore Linden-Kate Wilson playing in the middle and on the outside.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Amanda Hadfield is the team's head coach. Hatcher does a variety of sets including the back set with little lean most of the time. Hatcher makes good adjustments on out of system balls, making sure she sends balls toward the net. Hatcher mixes in nice set-overs and setter dumps. She can back tap balls on second hits to land impressive kills. On defense, Hatcher provides nice net backup and can handle hard cross shots. The lefty takes nice angles off blocks. She has sound line and cross shots. McIntosh does a great job turning back overpassed balls quickly. She has demonstrated the ability to go above blocks for big swings. Fuller has taken nice steps forward running the offense. Fuller provides valuable play on defense. Fuller handles off shots to the 10-foot line with precision and recovers quick to get to setovers. Fuller executes the bump and overhead passes and gets to redirected balls off blocks.
