15s: Midwest National Tune-Up First Looks

<p>The Prep Dig Midwest National Tune-Up has concluded its first day of play, and the 15s division has already delivered a glimpse into the future of the area's volleyball landscape. College scouts and fans will have plenty to be excited about as these young athletes showcase high-level execution, grit, and raw athleticism.</p>   <p>Here are the first standouts and impact players who caught our eye during the opening rounds and made it into my notes app.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Iowa Impact 152 Elite</h2>   <p>This squad plays with a ton of cohesion, anchored by a quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='893645' first='Mallory' last='Ickowitz'], who knows how to put her attackers in positions to succeed. And a middle (#6-if you have her name, height, and grad year, please reach out) who is an absolute firecracker and brings energy to the court along with her lateral speed to help disrupt opposing offenses.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Miller is a highly intelligent point-scorer, and she doesn't just rely on her power. She has exceptional court vision and demonstrated a really smart use of the opposing block to tool her way out of tough situations.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Iowa Impact 153 Elite</h2>   <p>The 153 Elite roster is not one to underestimate due to the highly aggressive offensive mindset that puts opponents on their heels.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">DeVolder carries a big, demanding presence at the net. She shuts down angles early and establishes herself as a major defensive roadblock for attackers.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Grandon plays big, and she can reach well over the block. She does a fantastic job of using the opposing blockers' hands to score and take the ball out of playable territory.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">I absolutely love the aggressive approach from Simpson. She transitions hard and attacks the ball with real intent every time she gets the call, making her a setter's dream.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets'] 15-1</h2>   <p>As expected, the Rockets brought a loaded arsenal of heavy arms and high-IQ net play to the tune-up.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Goldsmith was absolutely bouncing the volleyball when she could find an opening. She's working hard in transition, making herself available and proving to be a lethal option on the right pin. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Guhl contacts the ball beautifully at her peak. She possesses a great contact point that allows her to drive the ball cleanly over most blockers and target specific spots on the court in order to score.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Sutherland is a textbook point-producer. She brings a heavy arm and a lightning-fast swing that gives opposing defenders very little reaction time.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">There is a lot to love about her general presence at the net. Wedo plays with a very confident, in-your-face block and pairs it with a fast swing. Showed great court vision with a smart, deceptive tip to the 4-hole when the deep defense dropped.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ohana 15U National</h2>   <p>Ohana is working hard to push the tempo, and they have the personnel to execute an offense that keeps blockers scrambling.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Wallenburg possesses a really high contact point, and when her timing clicks, she is dynamic. She is already getting a ton of block touches and she still has a lot of time to develop her game so she is one to keep an eye out for.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Hanson featured an aggressive approach, and she can be a major catalyst in pushing the speed and tempo of the game. Her fast swing makes her dangerous in transition, and she has the makings of a game-changer.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Hetland thrives in a fast offensive system. She is constantly pushing the tempo, totally unafraid to run a quick route, and gets her arms up early. Her grit at the net and ability to work the ball through narrow splits are impressive.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">White truly is the engine of the Ohana offense. She is exceptionally quick to the ball and diligent about getting herself in the best possible position to utilize all attackers. White does a phenomenal job of consistently putting up highly hittable balls from anywhere on the court.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PowerPlex 14U McQuade</h2>   <p>Playing up against an older age group is never easy, but this squad's defensive anchor proved she belongs on this big stage.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">This bro is solid in serve receive, and she fights hard to get under the ball every time. I swear, her hobbies include extending plays and keeping the rally alive for her team.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">PowerPlex 15U Mendieta</h2>   <p>This is a deep roster filled with dynamic athleticism and an incredible physical net presence.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Lynch runs a smooth floor. She plays with great composure for a young setter and showcases exceptionally soft, clean hands.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Brunkhorst is a physical lefty with a really nice, natural swing. She has moments where you can tell she is still finding her footing and consistency, but her ceiling is remarkably high.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Whitver could jump out of the gym! She flies under the radar initially, but once she explodes off the floor, her vertical catches you completely off guard. The hops will get your attention while the swing keeps you watching.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Reinders straight-up means business when she steps up to that net. I love how she gets up in the air with her arm locked and loaded, ready to smoke the gap set. Defensively, she's a menace who gets her hands on a lot of balls.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Craig connects beautifully with Reinders in the middle. She also holds her own defensively, setting a sturdy, disciplined block when she rotates into her front-row opportunities.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Bryan covers a massive amount of court in a very small amount of time. She is incredibly quick on defense, does a great job reading hitters, and reacts instantly.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Carreon works hard along the net and is very quick to close the block on outside swing.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">RVA 15U Gladden</h2>   <p>This group features some high-upside talent in the 2028 and 2029 classes who are playing with a maturity well beyond their years.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Schultz commands attention with a big presence at the net. What makes her particularly exciting is her versatility; we love seeing the way she is already comfortable running different routes to freeze opposing middles.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Plastina is calm cool and collected on the court. She remains patient in serve receive, holds her platforms well, and consistently creates positive space for her setter.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Steinkamp has a high-ceiling lefty with a fast, whippy swing. Steinkamp is highly versatile, showing the ability to hit a sharp cross-court angle or paint the line with equal effectiveness.</p>
