Six 16, 14 Division Governors’ Cup Outstanding Performers

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The talented A.61 team has had some big wins on the season, but put things together this weekend for the first tournament win of the season, going 6-0 to win the 16 Division of the Governors' Cup at Rupp Arena in Lexington. Alpha A.61 had to beat the Elizabethtown Volleyball Academy 16 Blue team a second time in the title game, 2-0 (25-13, 25-14) to win it.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Elizabethtown Volleyball Academy 14 Blue team won the 14 Division with a 7-0 run dropping just two sets on the way to a fourth tournament championship this season. Kagel has learned to disrupt the net a number of ways. Kagel executes sound overhead and bump passes. Kagel also takes solid swings from the back row. She has a great vertical jump, using it to hit over blocks and even tip over them. VanGuilder makes great in-air adjustments to catch defenders off-guard. VanGuilder even takes big swings from the back row. Described as outgoing, driven and gritty by teammates and close ones, VanGuilder uses her off (left) hand to surprise opponents on soft swings. VanGuilder is also a sound passer. She uses her size well to control the net and make solid swings. Henrick is coachable and tries to keep everyone up when things are not going the team's way. Sizemore takes sound swings from the pins, using unique angles as a lefty. Sizemore has great form on her blocks and has improved her vertical jump. Sizemore makes sound passes and makes a lot of things with her serving. She mixes in hard and off shots well. Corning makes good in-air adjustments to attack seams. Corning also does a nice job spacing herself away from the net to take solid swings.
