Texas 2028 Watch List Middles Vol 5

[player_tooltip player_id='837324' first='Ariana' last='Rawls'], is a Class of 2028 middle blocker and right side who plays at Spring High School and [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] Volleyball Club. Standing at 5'10", she plays both the middle and opposite with a physicality and intent at the net that tells you the competitive motor is genuine. This young lady has raw, natural power in her upper body that sends the ball over with authority every time she gets a solid contact. We have seen her progress very nicely over the past two years and think she will garner a lot of attention due to her very high ceiling. She has a truly high reach that plays a lot higher than what her height shows. What I love about her net play is how she uses superior court vision to find open holes in the defense to score for her squad. Ariana is a 2028 two-position front row prospect from the Houston area who is worth getting in front of before her class closes out. [player_tooltip player_id='891941' first='Cate' last='Stewart'], a Class of 2028 middle blocker and right side from The Kinkaid School in Houston, is one of the more physically imposing prospects in this entire article series and her 6'3" frame at the middle blocker position is the kind of physical profile that Power Five programs build their front rows around. The contact point she creates above the net is simply a different problem than opposing offenses face on a regular basis, and the fact that she is still a 2028 means the athletic development ahead of her makes an already impressive physical ceiling even more significant. She plays both the middle and right side, and developing a genuine understanding of both roles at her height gives any college staff the kind of front row versatility that is hard to find. The academic rigor and competitive standard she is held to at Kinkaid shapes her habits and her preparation in ways that carry over directly to how she performs on the volleyball court. [player_tooltip player_id='766238' first='Juliet' last='DeMarr'] is a Class of 2028 middle blocker and outside hitter from Fort Bend Christian Academy and Texas Legacy Volleyball Club. Her SportsRecruits profile lists her as capable of playing outside hitter, opposite, middle blocker, defensive specialist, and setter, and while that kind of positional breadth can sometimes indicate a player who has not found her identity, in her case it reflects a volleyball IQ and an athletic ability so broad that the game genuinely has not found a role it can limit her to. At 6'2" she brings the physical tools to dominate in the front row at the middle or the pin. The dual nature of her identity as both a middle and an outside hitter means she attacks from a wider variety of positions and angles than specialized hitters do, which creates matchup problems that defensive coordinators have to actively account for.
