<p>Last month, we <a href="https://prepdig.com/2026/04/volleyball-represents-at-2026-drake-relays/">highlighted volleyball players</a> that made their marks at the Drake Relays. Many of those student-athletes were back at the blue oval this past weekend for the state meet</p>

<p>The weather was optimal for breaking records and fans flocking to Drake Stadium. The three-day crowd was the third biggest in the event's history.</p>

<p>Here's a closer look at accomplished volleyballers that impacted the competition in their events at this year's Class 3A state track meet:</p>

<p>-Cali Whitaker, who helped Mount Vernon volleyball reach the state tournament the last two seasons, including winning a 3A title in 2024, won the 200 meters in 24.44 and the 400 meters in 55.51. The South Dakota track commitment was seventh in the 100 meters (12.27 seconds). Grinnell's Aiden Gosselink took second in the 200 (24.45) and was third (12.12) in the 100. Western Dubuque's Haley Williams was fourth in the 200 (25.15)</p>

<p>-ADM's Elise Coghlan won the 100 hurdles, hitting the tape in 14.20, and came in second in the 400 hurdles (1:02.82). South Tama sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='798628' first='Scout' last='Ridout'] finished third (14.74) in the 100 hurdles. Leighton Messinger from Washington crossed the finish line fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:04.65), while Williamsburg's [player_tooltip player_id='843242' first='Keston' last='Spratt'] was seventh (1:06.67). </p>

<p>-Wahlert Catholic's Lucy Lueken was 15th in the 800, running it in 2:18.89. </p>

<p>-Hayden Dietz ran on Marion's state championship sprint medley relay squad that completed the race in 1:46.46. Williams was a part of Western Dubuque's foursome that finished second in 1:47.06. Sioux Center was fifth (1:48.11) with [player_tooltip player_id='902722' first='Taylor' last='Holverson'] and Avery Bitker carrying two of the legs. Claire Ludovissy, Claire Brosius and Karley Belken made up three fourths of Wahlert's seventh-place team (1:48.86)</p>

<p>-Holverson and Bitker were half of Sioux Center's state champion distance medley relay team that ran 4:00.09. Dietz helped Marion take second in 4:01.74, while Des Moines Christian with Hailey Mull took fourth (4:07.34). Messinger and Washington were eighth (4:10.98). </p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='829874' first='Audrey' last='Essa'] ran on Decorah's second-place 4x100 (48.55). Ludovissy and Belken were part of the Wahlert team that ended up third (48.58), while Alex Scott was on Mount Pleasant's fourth-place finisher (48.72), and Heelan had Lillian Wooten on a outfit that was fifth (48.86). [player_tooltip player_id='555788' first='Kendra' last='Nolton'], Aiden Gosselink and Haydlee Harter helped Grinnell claim sixth (48.88), Elizabeth Timmerman and Clear Creek Amana were seventh (48.89), and Williams and Western Dubuque were eighth (49.01).</p>

<p>-Brosius, Belken and Karyn Ellis competed on Wahlert's state champion 4x200 team that ran 1:41.16. Williams and Western Dubuque were second (1:41.37), Natalie Mensen and [player_tooltip player_id='893666' first='Sofia' last='Schulte'] were on West Delaware's third-place squad (1:41.75), and Dietz and Marion were fourth (1:41.81). Timmerman and [player_tooltip player_id='493660' first='Bailey' last='Simpson'] helped Clear Creek Amana come in sixth (1:43.17), Washington with Messinger was seventh (1:43.81), and Wooten and Heelan were eighth (1:43.90). </p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='754649' first='Peyton' last='Dirks'], Reese Wagner and Frankie Huether ran three legs on North Polk's state champion shuttle hurdle relay team, crossing the finish line in 1:02.59. Coghlan helped ADM claim second (1:03.02), Mya Hogrefe and ran on the Western Dubuque team that was third (1:05.29), Lauren LeClere and [player_tooltip player_id='893666' first='Sofia' last='Schulte'] ran with fourth-place West Delaware (1:05.93), Camryn Klein and Newton were sixth (1:06.52), Kinnick Leusink, [player_tooltip player_id='764268' first='Sadie' last='Meyer'] and LeMars were seventh (1:07.70), and [player_tooltip player_id='804567' first='Anna' last='Embretson'] ran for Benton, which finished eighth (1:08.40).</p>

<p>-Brosius, Belken and Ellis powered Wahlert to a state title in the 4x400 with a meet record 3:52.04, while Schulte and Mensen ran on West Delaware's third-place team (3:55.32). Coghlan and ADM were fourth (3:56.27), and Dietz and Marion were fifth (3:57.20). [player_tooltip player_id='849192' first='Ellie' last='Nielsen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='843242' first='Keston' last='Spratt'] were sixth with Williamsburg (3:57.69). </p>
