Why These Freshman Will Have A Big Summer

Either way, this is a group we're tracking closely as they head into the summer and into their first school season. You can already see it. The swings are getting cleaner. The approach tempo is more consistent. The confidence is starting to show up in how they attack and handle bigger moments.   It won't matter what level they step onto at first. Freshman, JV, or varsity. These are players who are building into offensive roles and learning how to score in different situations. Out of system, in transition, against a formed block. That growth is already happening.   These are names to know before the season starts.    [player_tooltip player_id='925251' first='Avery' last='Moen'] is starting to show more confidence in how she attacks in transition. She stays available, keeps her approach tempo consistent, and does a good job adjusting when the set drifts off the net. Instead of forcing swings into a formed block, she's learning how to use the court and keep rallies working in her favor. As her shot selection continues to develop, she becomes the type of hitter that can still create offense even when the play breaks down. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas     Already having varsity experience as an incoming freshman shows up in how [player_tooltip player_id='913985' first='Ari' last='Johnson'] handles the speed of the game. She stays aggressive in transition, maintains her approach tempo, and continues to take confident swings even when the play breaks down. There's no hesitation in how she attacks.   What separates her is her ability to score without forcing. She's starting to read the block, see the court develop, and make adjustments mid-rally instead of relying on one shot. With the composure and offensive confidence she already brings, she's becoming the type of pin that defenses will have to account for every rotation. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas     [player_tooltip player_id='942165' first='Addison' last='Caza'] continues to show growth in how she approaches out-of-system swings. She keeps her feet underneath her, stays balanced through contact, and gives herself a chance to still create offense even when the set pulls off target. What stands out is that she doesn't panic when the play speeds up. As the game becomes more physical, that composure is what keeps hitters effective instead of becoming predictable offensively. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas     [player_tooltip player_id='933684' first='Andie' last='Mickelson'] brings a steady offensive presence and does a good job staying engaged throughout rallies. She continues to work through different shot options instead of relying on one swing, and that's starting to make her harder to defend. As she continues to develop consistency with her approach timing and contact point, her ability to terminate against bigger blocks will continue to improve. There's a lot of long-term offensive upside in how she's progressing right now. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas     [player_tooltip player_id='887995' first='Ellie' last='Leitch'] is showing more control in how she attacks and transitions through rallies. She's staying high through contact and doing a better job keeping swings aggressive without overpressing. What stands out is her ability to stay involved even after the first attack, which keeps pressure on defenses and gives her more opportunities to score as rallies extend. That ability to continue applying pressure over the course of a rally becomes valuable as the pace of the game increases. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas     [player_tooltip player_id='924937' first='Rachel' last='Sjogren'] continues to bring physicality on the outside and stays aggressive when the ball is in system. She does a good job creating space with her approach and is starting to become more comfortable attacking different areas of the court instead of relying on one angle. As blockers become quicker and more disciplined, that ability to expand her offensive range is going to matter. She's developing into a hitter that defenses will have to account for in multiple ways. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas     [player_tooltip player_id='987234' first='Kadie' last='House'] is beginning to show more confidence attacking in transition and handling tougher set locations. She keeps her movements controlled and works to stay available instead of drifting out of the offense when the rally breaks down. That ability to still be an option late in rallies adds value and keeps the offense from becoming predictable. As she continues to trust her swings in bigger moments, her offensive impact is only going to keep growing. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas     [player_tooltip player_id='942448' first='Camille' last='Julien'] brings good energy to the pin and continues to improve how she manages swings against a set block. She's starting to see the court better and make smarter decisions with where the ball needs to go instead of trying to overpower every contact. That's an important jump for young hitters.
