Johnson is impressive on so many levels. She’s been playing varsity since 7th grade and has worked her way into a starting role thanks to her aggressiveness, athleticism, grit, and overall competitiveness. I had the chance to watch her play up two age levels this club season, and she didn’t look out of place at all but rather, looked like one of the leaders on the court. She also brings great height to the position, which, combined with her ability to be a six rotation outside hitter, makes her an exciting prospect with a very high ceiling.

What separates her is her ability to score without forcing. She’s starting to read the block, see the court develop, and make adjustments mid-rally instead of relying on one shot. Johnson, only an 8th grader at Greenway, is a 5’9″ six rotation outside hitter that lit up the varsity courts this past high school season and played at a skill level way beyond her age. She impressed with 306 kills, a .217 hitting percentage, added 50 aces, and showcased that she is also a defensive standout at 287 digs and 37 blocks. Her combination of athleticism, court IQ, and exposure to high level volleyball makes her an exciting young prospect with super high capacity.
