To everyone else, June means summer time. To us volleyball lovers, June means Nationals! The weekend every team works towards is here and we cannot wait to see these top teams battling it out for the championship. 11 Texas teams in 17 Open division is no small feat. It takes a lot of hard work and fight to make it this far in the season, and it's time we talk about how these teams made it happen. First up, let's take a look at some Middles that made it happen for their teams in 17 Open division.

NT Middles

[player_tooltip player_id='828292' first='Nyla' last='Livings'], middle blocker for TAV 17 Black Jon, embodies the standard of excellence that has helped make her team the No. 1 squad in the North Texas region. Her size, athleticism, and commanding presence at the net make her impossible to overlook, as she consistently impacts the match on both offense and defense. Nyla is a force in every phase of the game, and often a single swing from her can shift momentum and set the tone for her team's success. Playing with a fearless and aggressive mindset, she embraces every challenge and does whatever is necessary to keep TAV ahead. As a leader in the middle, Nyla's intensity, physicality, and competitive drive make her one of the key reasons her team continues to set the bar so high.

[player_tooltip player_id='811675' first='Londyn' last='Bektic'], middle blocker for Skyline 17 Royal Sean, is a key contributor to a team that brings relentless energy from the opening whistle. Her vocal leadership and constant communication make her presence felt throughout every set, helping keep her teammates engaged and focused. Defensively, Londyn displays impressive discipline, patiently reading opposing setters and consistently closing blocks with excellent timing and technique. At the net, her athleticism and toughness shine through as she attacks with confidence and purpose. Every swing is aggressive and intentional, as she plays to terminate rallies and put points on the board. Combining high-level defensive instincts with a powerful offensive presence, Londyn is a driving force behind Skyline's competitive edge.

[player_tooltip player_id='534306' first='Lyla' last='Crowder'], middle blocker for [program_tooltip program_id='475085' first='1United' last=''] 17N Blue, is a dynamic presence at the net whose strong swing and exceptional footwork make her a constant offensive threat. Her disciplined movement allows her to stay ahead of the play, consistently arriving in position to make an impact on both sides of the ball. Crowder has developed a strong connection with her setter, creating a quick-tempo attack that keeps opposing defenses off balance and fuels her team's energy kill after kill. As [program_tooltip program_id='475085' first='1United' last=''] heads into Nationals, Crowder's production and commanding presence in the middle give the team a significant advantage and establish them as a force to watch at the net.

LS Middles

[player_tooltip player_id='805228' first='Gracie' last='Hobin'], quick middle blocker for [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] 17 Royal, thrives in a fast-paced offense and shows no signs of slowing down. Her speed and agility create constant challenges for opposing defenses, as she consistently beats blockers to the spot and keeps the tempo of the match moving at a high level. Gracie attacks with a strong, confident swing that makes her a reliable scoring option, but what truly separates her is her volleyball IQ. She understands when to swing with power and when to use smart shot selection, finding ways to score against even well-formed defenses. Her ability to combine athleticism, timing, and decision-making makes her an elite middle option and every quick setter's dream. With her relentless pace and efficient offensive game, Gracie is a player who can dictate the flow of a match from the middle.

[player_tooltip player_id='438670' first='Arayah' last='Watson'], middle blocker for HJV 17 Elite, is the definition of a complete front-row player. While she may be listed as a middle, her versatility allows her to be a threat from anywhere across the net. Arayah's quick and efficient footwork helps her stay one step ahead of the play, whether she's transitioning to attack or closing blocks defensively. At the net, she establishes a strong, disciplined block that makes life difficult for opposing hitters, but it is her offensive game that truly commands attention. Her swing is powerful, decisive, and capable of changing the momentum of a match in an instant. Opponents have two choices when Arayah rises to attack: stop her or get ready to watch the ball hit the floor. With her athleticism, versatility, and relentless competitive edge, she is a player who consistently impacts the game at a high level.
