There is no doubt that one of the most difficult times an athlete can have is once the door of recruitment opens and the athlete is awaiting calls, emails, text messages or social media messages from college coaches that may have interest in recruiting them to join their collegiate roster. Contact is often made by the coaches to set up phone conversations, campus visits, camp reservations and more. Prep Dig Scouts have had first hand exposure in talking with many college coaches and many prospective athletes to further expand the exposure that helps the athlete learn what to do, and how to be recruited. Let's dig deeper and get direct tips and recommendations from players that's recently gone through the recruiting process.

I absolutely did receive assistance from the Prep Dig Scouts (articles, evaluations, video postings, social media, etc.). They helped me get the exposure and traction I needed to stand out to college coaches. Being featured in their rankings as the #1 player in Nevada multiple times over the course of my high school career, along with their event coverage, evaluations, and highlight videos, gave me major visibility across the country. This increased interest from programs, helped me get on more coaches' radars, and played a huge role in my recruitment journey and commitment to Long Beach State. I'm honestly really grateful for all their support.

I contacted them by Email, Phone & Social Media messaging.

During the phone calls, I made sure to share both my athletic qualities and my personality. I explained how I play as an outside hitter, aggressive, with a lot of fire, intent, and passion on every point. I also talked about my work ethic, competitiveness, and desire to get better every day. What I think helped the most was showing my genuine personality. I tried to be personable, kind, and likable so the coaches could see the real me. Being able to connect on a personal level made it easier for them to envision how I would fit into the team culture not just as a player on the court, but as someone who could positively impact the team mentally and emotionally. I believe coaches want athletes who are talented but also great teammates and good people, and I focused on showing that I could be both.

Yes, I visited the campus.

After the phone calls, I stayed extremely disciplined with both my athletics and academics. On the court, I continued training hard with my club team (Northern Nevada Juniors) and high school team, focusing on consistent performance in tournaments and practices. I made sure to send updated highlight videos and tournament schedules to the coaching staff to keep showing my commitment and improvement which can for sure be really tough at times especially when I had to sort through hours and hours of film but in the end its worth it and completely pays off. Academically, I kept my 4.1 GPA strong by staying organized, managing my time well during a busy travel and competition schedule, and prioritizing schoolwork even when I was tired. For me, it made it easier when I worked ahead which gave me more breathing room. I knew that maintaining high performance in both areas was key to proving to coaches I was ready for the next level. Staying focused and consistent during that waiting period was really important to me.

I received my offer for commitment in verbally by phone.

My biggest tips for up and coming prospects are to start early and be proactive. Stay consistent and relentless with your training, schoolwork, and reaching out to coaches. Keep sending personalized emails and updated film especially leading up to big dates like June 15th. Attend showcases like Prep Dig to get more visibility and always keep your grades strong. Show your real personality on calls and visits so coaches can see what kind of teammate you will be. The recruitment process can have some bumpy roads and I definitely went through some myself but you have to keep being persistent and never give up on your dreams. Most importantly believe with your full heart that everything will work out the way it is supposed to and that your path will guide you to the right place. Stay passionate, play with fire and intent, and always believe in yourself!

Prep Dig was always helpful with publishing articles and highlighting me on any videos that I had posted or that they got of me.
