Summer NIT Preview: 6 Middles Share Their Personal Goals and More

The Summer NIT will feature talent at every position, but a strong middle can completely change the outcome of a match. From controlling the net with timely blocks to providing efficient offense in transition, these athletes impact the game in ways that don't always show up in the box score. As teams prepare to compete against some of the region's top competition, these middle blockers have the tools, physicality, and volleyball IQ to make a major impact. Here are some of the middles we'll be keeping a close eye on at Summer NIT.    Caira sees Summer NIT as an opportunity to compete against some of the nation's top teams while showcasing the work her team has put in throughout the season. Earning an invitation is something she values highly, telling PrepDig Nevada,   “It means a lot, especially being able to be recognized and invited to a very competitive tournament with some of the top teams in the country.”   As her team prepares for the event, Caira expects coaches and spectators to see a talented group that is ready to compete at a high level and embrace the challenge of facing elite competition.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading text-gray-700">Caira's Personal Goal</h3>   “A personal goal I set for myself is to put all the work in the gym on connection with my setters into game play, and working in staying in a competitive mindset throughout the entire tournament.”   Caira plays for Vegas Aces 16 Ren, they will be playing in the 16s power pool. She believes her team's invitation reflects the work that happens behind the scenes, telling PrepDig Nevada,   “Our team has worked throughout the season to not only get 1% better each day but also be the first 16U team in Nevada to earn a Nationals BID.”   As her team prepares for the tournament, Payton expects coaches and spectators to notice a group built on chemistry and trust. “We support each other not only through the highs but also through the lows,” she said, highlighting one of the qualities she believes contributes to the team's success.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading text-gray-700">Payton's Personal Goal </h3>   “A personal goal is to contribute on and off the court. My mentality when going into a tournament is to reflect on my most recent games and find ways to make an impact on the court. I want to be as consistent and confident as possible. When it comes to college coaches, fans, or opponents I hope to showcase that not only am I a contributor in my position, but also flexible in other positions needed to be filled. I am always a team first mentality and hope to show that it is visible.”   Payton plays for Top Flight Volleyball Academy 16 National Black. She believes the event is a reflection of the progress her team has made throughout the season, telling PrepDig Nevada,   ”It shows us how far we've come through the season and is proof of how hard work pays off.”   With talented teams from across the region set to compete, Quinn expects fans to see “exciting games, with each point filled with good volleyball all around.”   <h3 class="wp-block-heading text-gray-700">Quinn's Personal Goal</h3>   “A personal goal for me is to just do my training and apply it to the game I play. Colbie tells PrepDig Nevada,   “My team and I are proving that we deserve a spot through our hard work and commitment”   Those watching her team for the first time can expect an aggressive style of play fueled by energy, chemistry, and a relentless competitive spirit. Every player understands their role and supports one another, creating an environment where the team can thrive.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading text-gray-700">Colbie's Personal Goal</h3>   “The goals I have for the Summer NIT is to trust my training and to stay competitive. These goals will hopefully show everyone my passion and improvement that has continually grown through this team and season.”   Colbie plays for Vegas Aces 15 Ren.
