Prep Dig ballers & parents... What a great time to focus on your overall goal as club and high school try outs rapidly approach! You've been working extremely hard in the past two months attending college camps, private & group trainings, high school, club or college open gyms while making a list of clubs to try out for and they're just over a week away. As a competitor determined to expand your exposure, you've had a huge focus on being selected for a specific club team and your high school team, and once that's completed, THEN WHAT??? Don't forget !!! EXPOSURE IS EVERYTHING !!! So let's look at a few recommendations for you the athlete once try outs are completed in preparation for the aftershocks.

You made the Club/High School Team, now what...

👤 Update ALL Sports Profile accounts with new program, new team, jersey number, position(s), athletic metric measurements, schedule and sports photo! College coaches, recruiters and scouts need to have the most updated information for you and as they follow you through your high school season, they're also getting ready for club season by making their "prospect watch lists" for future recruitment and old or out-dated information can move you lower on the list.

📋 Make and maintain your list of college programs you have interest in and contact them with your updated information. This is a perfect time to introduce yourself, provide a full update, share your upcoming high school schedule along with your club season schedule (if you have the information). Use all systems available to you such as email, messaging through your Prep Dig profile, University Athlete profile, Sports Recruits profile, Field Level profile, etc. Remember, they are also in their college season at the same time as the high school season so minimal correspondence will occur, but IT IS YOUR JOB TO GET ON THEIR RADAR before the club season starts. You may exist & be well known in your local community, but the in-state & out of state college coaches will NOT know you're interested in their program unless you reach out. Make this a priority!

📃 Visit the college volleyball web pages & complete the "RECRUIT/PROSPECT QUESTIONAIRE FORM"! This not only expands your interest in the program, but it will place your information in their database for contact, and the colleges can communicate important information about their program such as upcoming camps, clinics, invitations, etc.

👤 It is crucial that if you possess a social media account used for sports, have a "RECRUITABLE BIO". Update your social media sports account to include your full name, graduation year, club team, jersey number & position. You can add important information such as your GPA, height, approach, vertical, reach, etc, but don't forget to include a YouTube or Sports Profile link in your bio to access your most recent highlights. Pin your schedule to the top for easy access & viewing. Coaches often scroll through social media, and you should want your social platform to be built with the purpose of telling & displaying who you are, how you train, how you compete & what type of player they should add to their recruiting list.

🏐 Ball out for your teams at every turn through each season but remember, rarely is a full team recruited by the same coach; so keep updated video highlights that showcase YOU! Showcase your skill(s) & make your talent readily available because coaches are always looking for who they believe will fit their program & roster needs.

Not being selected for the team of your choice DOES NOT STOP YOUR PROCESS!!!

There are many volleyball prospects who don't compete during the high school season, and several may be on a club team where court time may be limited, however there is still work to do and the opportunity for exposure & recruitment has not passed by. Not playing high school volleyball or minimal live reps does not eliminate the ability to obtain your future goal of playing at the collegiate level. Although there may be cracks in the road due to the aftershocks, this is still a great opportunity to lock in with a personal trainer for things such as strength training, speed & agility training, physical therapy, sports massages, etc. Just as much as you train, all on-court action can be video recorded and formed in a way to present to college coaches as you make ready for the upcoming club season. You can also become a team assistant and get in-practice reps with the team, and don't forget to connect with your scouts who can provide guidance, evaluations and support in expanding your exposure while establishing contact with coaches.

If you're desiring to gain exposure for college recruiters and coaches, don't allow the aftershocks of tryouts to negatively affect your ability & desire!
