Avoli Committed Athlete: Nebraska Stock Up Showcase

I've been fortunate enough to see so many exceptional athletes join our annual event series, from the spirited competitions to the talent-stacked showcases. Outings like Saturday's Nebraska Stock Up Showcase will never be taken for granted.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>And my enjoyment of these events goes far beyond a list of names on an information packet. These showcases are all about establishing relationships, expanding skills, and staying on the court during the "dog days of summer." Above all, we get to see young athletes exhibit tremendous character and work ethic in an unfamiliar environment.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That's the whole crux of our Avoli <em>Committed</em> Athlete honor, which identifies one player who stood out while encapsulating the spirit of our showcases. Ascending to the 16s gauntlet under these circumstances can be daunting, but that's how we discovered Harvey's unwavering competitive spirit.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She shouldered numerous backcourt responsibilities while playing with her old peers. Her best moments came in the libero jersey, where Harvey's defensive range soared across the back row. Of course, she could also back up that floor defense with some outstanding serve-receive work to aid 16 Silver's first-ball offense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That excellence found the spotlight again as 16 Silver earned a late-season berth to USAV Nationals. Harvey commanded the contrasting uniform once more in Indianapolis, setting the tone with her precise platform and quick reaction times.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>But Harvey's influence spans far beyond the tangible skills. That brings us to Saturday's Nebraska Stock Up Showcase, where Harvey reminded us of her adaptability in ever-changing environments. She was part of a large group of defensive specialists, giving her plenty of opportunities to demonstrate leadership and elevate her allies. Harvey did not disappoint.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bellevue West sophomore's constant positivity drew us in when considering our award selection. Harvey could always find the chance to smile and be a positive influence, even when her team went through ruts during six-on-six scrimmages. She was equally present in positional drills while calling out seams, gaps, and sets.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's the kind of venue that suits Harvey perfectly. This gritty libero embraced the chance to become a "glue" player on a new-look club team. Harvey forged a few more bonds at the Nebraska Stock Up Showcase.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
