Our 2029-focused content is heating up as we consider our upcoming wave of rankings updates. USAV Nationals provided a perfect lens into some of Nebraska's top performers, as we've highlighted in Part 1 and Part 2 of this series. Why not make it a trilogy?

The Great Plains Region is stacking some serious talent for the future, and it all starts with these rising sophomores. If there's a class that warrants our biggest rankings debut yet, it's this one. Stay tuned.

Zephier-Murphy got some very early run in the spotlight through last year's Prep Dig Freshman Showcase. That summer event introduced us to the long, imposing frame that would eventually dominate at the 15 Open level. Premier Nebraska 15 Gold usually rolled with two-setter systems and three-hitter rotations, but Zephier-Murphy still had opportunities to exhibit her strength on the slide. Of course, she can also detonate in front of the setter before opposing defenses can organize. Millard North will gladly wield that underclassman influence this fall.

Speaking of Class A standouts, Harlan has continued her climb as one of Nebraska's most fascinating Class of 2029 attackers. In-season developments placed Harlan in a middle role with Omaha Westside last fall, and she made the most of the change en route to a state semifinal. By 2026, she returned to her natural spot on the left side and soared as the go-to pin for Nebraska Elite 15 Apex. Harlan can get crafty and mix in roll shots, but her heavy heat is the real game changer on the left antenna. We'll see how her role evolves in Year 2 with the Warriors.

We'll keep rolling through the state tournament gems, too. Bosshamer's immediate prep impact took Amherst over the top last fall, earning a state title after a multi-year run of postseason appearances. Once again, we're met with a 2029 athlete willing to flip-flop roles between high school and club. Bosshamer was a dominant middle for the Broncos last fall, producing nearly 200 kills in her debut season. However, she switched to the right side for VCNebraska 15 Elite and propelled her squad into the 15 USA race. Bosshamer's rare physicality opens up plenty of options.

Premier Nebraska has stockpiled some extraordinary setter talent from the Class of 2029. Having a leader like Pfannenstiel was one of the key catalysts for Premier Nebraska 15 Black's perfect run through the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament. This is one of the most creative, crafty signal-callers we watched on the 15s circuit this spring. Pfannenstiel has no apprehension toward slinging the ball to the middle while ten feet off the net, and she's incredibly difficult to read when passes are on the money. She will be eager to uphold the strong string of setters coming through the Millard West prep program.

Well, Millard West's 2029 talent pool is not limited to the setter spot. Dahlhauser distinguished herself as the ideal 'M1' for Club Legacy 15 Alpha, lifting the team to a late-season bid through the Salt Lake City Showdown. Her responsibilities in the starting rotation go far beyond the expectation of putting the ball away. Dahlhauser also boasts a wicked, driving serve that can keep her on the floor in Rotation 6. A deep 15 Liberty run in Indianapolis has further elevated this middle blocker's pre-fall stock.

Our discussion of VCNebraska's GJNC entrants wouldn't be complete without a libero. Mahan's fleet-footed approach was the focal point of 15 Black's gritty floor defense. That grit was needed as VCNebraska battled to an impressive 5-2 mark in the opening round of USAV Nationals pool play. Teams across the net had to work extra hard to get finesse shots past Mahan's lightning-fast reflexes. It's a worthy skill set for Mahan's continued development in the Lincoln-area prep scene.

We'll linger in the contrasting jersey a little longer. Cole was the featured defensive commander for Premier Nebraska 15 Red, which finished runner-up to its 15 Black counterpart in the GPR Bid Tournament race. This is a perfect athlete to slot in the middle-back area of the serve-receive pattern. Cole has made incredible gains in covering seam balls and has not shied away from absorbing contact down the line. Another gem is coming up through the Papio South pipeline.
