Avoli Committed Athlete: Washington Stock Up Showcase

Our first Summer event generated 70 participants and featured a terrific look at rising sophomores and freshmen, and the 2028 and 2027 players gave everyone insight into how you can grow your game and physicality with time and hard work.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mt. Rainier volleyball was well represented at the Showcase, and 2027 libero [player_tooltip player_id='727476' first='Tyla' last='Brown'] was terrific from the second she stepped onto the court. The rising senior is athletic, reads opposing attackers quickly, and has the technique and skill to dig the ball into a spot where her setters can find multiple options in transition. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tyla was selected as the <strong>Avoli Committed Athlete</strong> for her sportsmanship, work ethic, and willingness to step in and support her teammates. She set the tone for her court and position group, and plays with intensity- while still being positive and humble. The 2027 prospect was comfortable jumping into every drill demo at the Showcase and taking charge of the defensive backcourt. She is great at making sure who has the seams and that everyone understands where to be on the floor. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The cat quick defender put up big numbers her junior year at Mt. Rainier, leading the team in digs, serving at nearly 90%, and helping the team reach the 4A State Tournament. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sportsmanship</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brown may not be the loudest libero you have seen, but she has a positive word for everyone and supports her team and players around her with encouragement and a smile. She celebrated hard with every kill or block, keeping her teammates energized and ready for the next point. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Taylor is a tremendous representation of what we look for in our Avoli Commited Athlete. She instantly supports and encourages the players around her, is selfless and humble, while working hard to win and compete the right way. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Work Ethic</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brown was all over the court during the Showcase, running down deflected balls and covering her attackers to generate extra attempts for the offense. She played with hustle and grit and sustained her effort through the competitive six-on-six portion of the event. Her hard work and determination showed in her "after" picture.
