Zephier-Murphy got some very early run in the spotlight through last year’s Prep Dig Freshman Showcase. That summer event introduced us to the long, imposing frame that would eventually dominate at the 15 Open level. Premier Nebraska 15 Gold usually rolled with two-setter systems and three-hitter rotations, but Zephier-Murphy still had opportunities to exhibit her strength on the slide. Of course, she can also detonate in front of the setter before opposing defenses can organize. Millard North will gladly wield that underclassman influence this fall.

Why not rekindle a few memories from July’s Prep Dig Freshman Showcase? Zephier-Murphy was one of our top terminators from that La Vista outing, and she has brought her high-efficiency game to the Class A stage with Millard North. She soars over opposing blockers from the middle blocker spot and has made the most of her early attacking opportunities in the Mustang frontcourt. Zephier-Murphy is averaging a 0.383 hitting percentage through 20 sets of play, even as Millard North navigates a tough early-season schedule. We’re setting a high bar for the next few years.
