Catching Our Attention: New 2029 Rankings Additions

As we watch more volleyball, attend showcases, and get additional looks at players throughout the season, new names continue to catch our attention and earn their way into the rankings.   This latest group of additions brings a little bit of everything. We have setters who understand how to run an offense and put their hitters in position to score, pins who can bring some serious heat while finding different ways to attack, and versatile defenders who seem to have a knack for keeping the ball off the floor. What stood out across the board was their volleyball IQ, athleticism, competitiveness, and ability to impact the game. The following are players that earned their way into our 2029 rankings and we are excited to continue watching them compete, develop, and show us just how high their ceilings can be. Cashman-Shamrokh is the complete package as an up-and-coming setter, and that is exactly why she earned her way into the top part of our rankings. She has great hands, moves quickly, and plays with an advanced volleyball IQ that shows in the way she runs an offense. Her experience playing beach volleyball adds another layer to her game, as she knows how to score herself while also understanding how to put her hitters in the best position to score. She is a natural leader who makes those around her better. Her height is another major asset, allowing her to run an effective 5-1 while also providing a strong blocking presence at the net. With her size, athleticism, leadership, and feel for the game, Cashman-Shamrokh is a setter we are excited to watch continue to develop.     I had the chance to watch Edwards at our recent showcase, and did she ever stand out. She has quick feet, a fast arm swing, and generates a ton of power behind her attack. Edwards can fire away from either pin, giving her the versatility to score from multiple spots on the court. But she isn't just about power. She is smart with her shot selection, sees what the defense is giving her, and knows when to swing hard, find a seam, or change things up. The combination of athleticism, power, and a smart attacking game made Edwards one of the players who immediately caught our attention and ultimately earned her a spot in our rankings.     Cha is a gamer and the definition of a versatile utility player. While she may swing from the pins during the club season, her size, passing ability, and defensive instincts also make her well-suited for a libero or defensive specialist role and she can definitely handle both. Cha has a strong game IQ, reads the court well, and works hard defensively. What stands out most is her willingness to do whatever her team needs to win. Whether she is attacking, passing, or making plays in the back row, Cha finds a way to contribute, and that versatility is exactly why she earned a spot in our 2029 rankings.     Ten Haken is a versatile pin who can do a lot of things well. She can take big swings from either pin, remain effective attacking out of system, and does a nice job rotating her body to rip down the line and find open court. She already shows the ability to adjust to what is in front of her and find different ways to score. For such a young player, there is a lot to like about Ten Haken's game, and with plenty of development still ahead of her, she has a bright future. We can't wait to see where her game takes her.     Jensen is a talented defender who has a knack for coming up with impressive digs and keeping plays alive. She is comfortable anywhere in the backcourt, moves well both left and right, and does a great job reading attackers and putting herself in position to make a play. Jensen also understands how to work around the block rather than getting caught behind it, giving herself a clear look at the hitter and the ability to react. Her instincts, movement, and willingness to chase down tough balls make her a steady presence in the back row and are exactly why she earned a spot in our 2029 rankings.
