Class of 2028 Setters That Can Run The Show At The Next Level

We're wrapping up our positional breakdowns for the class of ‘28 and its updated rankings. Even with the kids that have already committed from this class (20+!), there's still PLENTY of talent fully capable of running the offensive show at the collegiate level. Here are five athletes from around the state, each having a unique trait that makes them fully marketable for the next level.    Being the daughter of volleyball coaches, it stands to reason that Nicole is fully capable of doing whatever she wants within the 900 square feet. Yes, I see her as a setter first, but with that athleticism comes the ability to attack from the right side, which I've personally seen her do at our showcases. Having that all-around volleyball IQ that's off the charts, Nicole has the innate ability to know exactly what to do whenever anything happens. With that being said, I would not be surprised if she's the next setter off the board with a commitment, as her knowledge and innate ability to “see” the entire play as it develops is a skill that just can't be taught.     Speaking of athleticism, Paislee is quick, strong and smart, and can get to pretty much any ball passed remotely close to her—-and turn it into a hittable ball. Not too many setters (in any class) have that ability, and her Munciana training allows her to feel the game differently. Her ball control, athletic acuity and overall high-end volleyball IQ have formed her into one of the more well-rounded and smarter setters still remaining in this class, and her relentless nature and never-ending well of energy is contagious.     More aggressive than the previous two setters mentioned, Caitlyn is already accustomed to running a faster-than-average offense through her training at Academy. The aggressive part is fun to watch in action—-she'll take the second ball over and score on her own at the perfect moments, allowing the pressure to be taken off of her teammates. As a well-rounded, team-first setter, Miss Gutt understands what it takes to run an offense, and be the leader on the floor that is much-needed in today's iteration of the game.     Setter for the reigning 4A runners-up, Charlee is already accustomed to high-level training, playing and winning. A bronze medalist in ‘25 in the 15 Open division of GJNCs, Charlee has some off-the-chart abilities when it comes to setting. Miss Groninger has something that some other setters don't have—-an ability to connect instantly with her fellow hitters. That quick connection, coupled with her high volleyball IQ, will bring her continued success on the volleyball court this year and beyond.     Small but mighty, Leah is fully capable of being either a 5-1 setter for a small school or as part of a 6-2 offense at a larger college. With high, strong hands (check out her profile pic!), great balance and quick feet, Miss Adams can get to ANY ball sent her way, and knows what to do with it in all situations. Never forcing the “wrong” set, and not one to make the “hero play”, Leah is a smart and athletic setter that can make a difference at the next level because of her consistency and high-level training.
