Prep Dig Showcases are back! We had a huge event that was held at the Momentous Sports Facility on July 31st. These events always bring together athletes from across the state looking to compete in front of college coaches while being evaluated by Prep Dig scouts and court coaches. There were tons of awesome players that we evaluated from their awesome production. Showcases like this continue to provide a valuable platform for athletes to be seen, tested, and recognized for their individual performance and intangibles. Let's take a closer look at a few amazing liberos who caught my eye at the SoCal Stock Up showcase.

Abby is the kind of back row player who refuses to let a ball drop and that quality showed up from the opening point of the SoCal Showcase. At 5'3" she is compact and low to the ground, which works in her favor as a defender because she changes direction quickly and absorbs the floor without needing to adjust her base the way taller players do. Her reading ability was one of the standout qualities that I noticed throughout the evening. She was anticipating rather than reacting, which tells you the volleyball IQ is already tracking ahead of where most players in her class year are operating. There were moments in the scrimmage segments where her competitive energy visibly pulled the players around her into the game. I really loved what I saw from her and it is apparent that she deserves some looks from scouts around the country.

Kyndal brings grit, energy, and a little bit of productive chaos to the back row and the SoCal Showcase was a full display of all three. She competed with a scrappiness that is genuinely difficult to coach into a player and went after every ball on the floor. Her first step is decisive and her body control in the scramble is better than you expect from a sophomore-level defender. As I was evaluating her throughout the evening, I kept pointing to her competitive intensity as the defining quality of her performance and the way she fired her teammates up when a rally extended deeper than expected was amazing. At 5'4" with that motor already running this hot, the trajectory ahead of her is worth tracking closely. I know that I will stay watching her long after this event is over and you should keep you eye on her as well.

Playing your high school volleyball at Mater Dei means competing every day inside one of the most demanding programs in the country and [player_tooltip player_id='774517' first='Peyton' last='Roberts'] carried that standard with her to the SoCal Showcase. Her platform mechanics were clean and she passed with location rather than just keeping the ball in play, which reflects a player who has been trained to think about the second contact rather than just surviving the first one. My notes state that her composure was not rattled when it seemed that her team was down. You can see that she didn't hang her head or drop her shoulders but yet she kept clapping and going to talk to other players to pump them up. That shows me that she is ready for competing against everyone and will not take a play off. Every college coach in the country would love a libero who stays in the game competitively.

Isabella is 5'1" and she played bigger than that number suggests throughout the entire SoCal Showcase. Her floor coverage was the first thing I noticed and the range she generates through anticipation and first-step quickness makes the court feel smaller for the hitters on the other side of the net. She reads the game early, which means she is almost never scrambling. The ball finds her rather than the other way around, and that quality is the clearest indicator of a libero whose instincts are already ahead of her age. You could see that her communication with teammates throughout the day was constant and genuine and the players around her responded to it every time. I love when I see a smaller libero not be afraid to go up against bigger hitters and she was exactly that in every scrimmage drill. We will be watching her moving forward and you should also.

As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes. If you have anyone you think we should watch out for, please shoot me an email with some info at Michael@prepdig.com. You can also DM me in Instagram and X by searching @CoachMikeDZ. Also don't forget to help these kids get more exposure by sharing our stories with your friends. Help us help them by simply retweeting on Twitter or sharing on Facebook. Thanks for following us, Prep Dig Family! Don't be afraid to interact with us. We love the likes, shares, and quotes/comments. Keep them coming!
