Dominating the Middle: PD Freshman Showcase

Whether they were closing blocks, running fast tempo offenses, or creating mismatches at the net, several athletes showcased the athleticism and versatility that make the position so valuable. Her quick footwork across the net also allowed her to set up a sturdy wall to take away shots from the hitters she went up against. She consistently attacked with a quick approach, allowing her to stay in rhythm and create opportunities to hit hard and score. Her ability to get off the floor quickly made her effective at the net, where she showed flashes of strong blocking and an aggressive offensive presence. Her long wingspan allowed her to close blocks or get positive touches on so many balls. During the positional time, she stood out with her fast arm swing and ability to get high above the tape. That coachability, along with her work ethic, makes her an exciting prospect with plenty of room to grow.
