Middles Flex Their Power: PD IL Stock Up Showcase

Being very candid and open, it was a small group of middles, but they did not lack for a single bit of attention or talent. Due to the small group, everything from skill, coaching, adjustment, and hustle. Not to play favorites, but this group may have stolen the show, and that speaks volumes, simply because this was an exciting day for everyone. So let's get to know these athletes who are about to capture your attention.    Abby continues to impress and improve with every showing, whether at camps, showcases, and/or games. She shows what hard work will do, no matter how long it takes. Her lift is quicker and more implosive, getting to the ball and slamming it with force. Making adjustments on the fly and showing her IQ is increasing as rapidly as her snap. As one coach said, “I wasn't aware she was just a sophomore to be.”     This was one of those treasures, while observing the middle, she was hard to miss and not like. Undersized for her position, but that's about the only flaw that stood out. She followed some instructions and proceeded to hit beyond the ten-foot line, vary her angles, and hit so mean that, luckily, they were hitting with no back row during positional. Her skills continued and translated to gameplay. Same energy and activity as during drills, but with a more intense version of herself.     Kaitlyn is the most all-around middle of the bunch that's polished with a complete game at least. Game is composed and patient, but she is a deadly threat on either side of the net. She will deter any attacker from the middle with her blocking; she is quick and active. Her attacking and swinging is not predictable, quick to the snap and recoil on her leap. She is extremely mobile with great footwork.     Sophie is special, not because she was imploding well over the net every set and attack. Not just due to the fact that she attacked every spot on the floor during positional drills. Not even because when she swings and makes contact with the ball, you hear it four courts over. She might be undersized as a middle, very well, a PIN, as she consistently displayed the ability to pass and move laterally. Her versatility makes her a deadly force and even scarier opponent; being able to run any set and attack with her on the floor is a treasure. Gameplay proved you cannot attack her because she is a force as a blocker, getting touches often, and blocking.     Layla is a tall, long, and towering force, but that's just the beginning of her story. She was delivering ten-foot line shots repeatedly, time and time again, with a reach and height that defenders would have difficulty contesting. Watching her run a slide sealed the deal on her skill set.
