Houston Area HS Team to Watch: Tomball

They return without some key contributors from their last campaign, but have a true star in senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='269795' first='Gemma' last='Hopkins']. Hopkins is one of just a few liberos who are real difference-makers and can dramatically impact the outcome of matches with her play on the back row. From quick and intelligent movement to remarkable ball control, she has everything needed to keep the ball off the floor and be a defensive machine, frustrating opponents and giving her team extra opportunities to score. Standing at 6'1", she has a strong presence at the net and can be a force with her blocking, showing good mobility and solid read to stop opponents. Hornes is also an offensive weapon for Tomball, hitting different sets in the middle and doing a good job of finding nice angles that make it hard for blocks to stop her and for defenders to get to the ball. She's an excellent playmaker who not only has a great touch on the ball but also thrives with her distribution, showing a very high volleyball IQ and a great feel for the game. Standing at 6'1", she's an asset at the net, showing impressive blocking ability for a setter and being able to take on hitting duties when needed.
