It seems necessary to convey the annual surprise that another season is upon us, however.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We received a peek at teams competing in the&nbsp;<a href="https://prepdig.com/2026/08/stock-risers-from-prep-dig-iowa-sizzle-2026/">Prep Dig Iowa Sizzle</a>. They and others around state have committed to improvement in pursuit of realizing dreams in November.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Iowa will get you ready for the new campaign with content leading up the first point. Here's a closer look at players to watch in one of the state's top leagues, the Mississippi Athletic Conference:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='826328' first='Halle' last='Comer'], MH, Davenport West</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Comer is coming off a junior season at Davenport West that saw her rank fifth in the MAC with 59.0 blocks. She also led the Falcons in kills. The uncommitted senior raised her level of play with Iowa Select this past club season and is prepared to shine in her final prep campaign. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='886198' first='Alyssa' last='Schroeder'], MH, North Scott</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>North Scott won the Class 4A state championship last season with Schroeder playing an integral role in the program's title run. The junior paced the champs with 55.0 blocks. She made the most of her attack opportunities with 80 kills (.252). Schroeder finishing second in the high jump at the state track meet speaks to her athleticism.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='812892' first='Ella' last='Glover'], MH, Davenport North</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Glover Led Davenport North with 50.0 blocks last season, when she ranked eighth in the MAC. She rated third among Wildcats in kills. Glover prepared for her final high school go-around by developing her game with Platform Elite this past club campaign, when her team reached the USAV Nationals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='949060' first='Reece' last='Harrell'], MH, Bettendorf</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If you're looking for a breakout candidate in the MAC, one capable of all-league recognition, Harrell is an excellent pick. The senior ranked second on Bettendorf in blocks last year, when she was 12th in the league. She flashed potential as an attacker and took that up a notch for an Iowa Select team that reached the USAV Nationals this summer. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1017426' first='Maggie' last='House'], OH, Clinton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>House ranked second on Clinton and 14th in the MAC with 156 kills as a sophomore last season. She showed signs of being able to handle six rotations with a strong back-row attack and defense back there. The River Queens return a solid nucleus and could make big strides with House leading the attack. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1017419' first='Kallie' last='Burzlaff'], DS/L, Central DeWitt</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Burzlaff ranked fourth in the MAC with 276 digs last season. The Central DeWitt junior proved to be one of the best overall athletes in the conference with her exploits in wrestling and softball. She gets overlooked in volleyball because the other endeavors keep her from club ball, but Burzlaff is a gamer in the back row.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1017422' first='Karen' last='Staats'], S, Muscatine</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Staats ranked in the Top 12 among conference performers in assists and digs last season. She also was third among Muskies in kills. They return a lot of production this year, and Staats' versatility and contributions across the board could go a long way in making Muscatine a tough out in 2026. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
